What is "larger"? "Larger" doesn't tell us anything. Give us actual numbers.
What do you mean by "blurry" that doesn't tell us anything? Where are they blurry? When are the blurry? In the battles during playtest? In the menus? In the database when you are assigning them? Is the image zoomed in? Is the image zoomed out? Is the image still at default dimensions but degraded?
Won't show up where? In the play test? In the menu? In the database? Where don't they show up? & what are the differences between the "blurry" icons, & the icons that "don't show up"?
"Making" is probably a bit of a stretch.
Most of them probably just copy & pasted various versions of "The Giant Icon Set" or other ripped resources together.
I can't see many of the people that end up posting those threads having actually created a hundred individual icons, & then multiplying them up to eight hundred via recolors. Let alone doing the work to create 8,000+ icons.
I've been planning on making my own tilesets for a loooooooooooooong time now, but the truth is, I think it is too much work, and the VX Ace set is not half bad.
there are many, many icons in there I don't even use, and still I don't go over 767. (I crop this down per project. I don't have 100's unused icons in my projects.)
