Content folder locked, Please help

So I was useing RPG Maker MV and when I closed it for about a hour I tried opening it again and it suddenly gave me this;

' Steam - Error

An error occurred while updateing RPG Maker MV (content file locked): C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RPG Maker MV\RPGMV.exe '

I have gone to the file in order to serch the .exe but there is no trace of such file... I have EVREYTHING unhidden and so on and nothing gives me a prompt to unlock any folders so I dont know what the heck is going on but im pretty ticked off beacase I cant use RPG Maker MV anymore since this happened, I have tried uninstalling the program completely and re installing but the same issue happens.

I have also run a File verification process and it said all files were 100% verified so i dont understand what is going on beacase even after that it is still giveing me the 'Content file locked'error message...

Nothing is working.

Dose anyone have the same issue or are able to help?

Yeah, it just happened to me right now.

I started Steam and RPGMV for a second time for today, and it gave this "updating error" all of a sudden.


Can someone please look into this?

This error still happens even after rebooting the PC a few times.
And i'm sure OP has already tried it in the same manner.
Even re-installing a few times didn't help.

Worked after the 2nd re-install attempt and redownloading all content.

Still weird that it causes total app bootup failure with just an update, but it works again now.

Could it be that some code in the RPGMakerMV.exe file triggers anti-virus apps?

Possibly. Avira fairly regularly throws a fit over it. But the antivirus blocking you usually does not express like this. This seems really more of an issue with Steam or possibly Windows' own file integrity functionality.

I figured out the issue for my own problem, It was my anti virus... it detected RPGMV as malware or something... had to white list it and re install it twice....i dont know if this will fix anyone elsesissue but maybe try it out beacase that could be a reason.
