||Anti Virus Exception||
Avast has a setting that's called 'File system shield'. It monitors files and scans them upon excecution, and may block them.
I've added both the RPG Maker VM install folder in the Steam folder, and the folder I install new projects in as exceptions.
||Manually delete 'NewData' folder and run Verify integrity of files in Steam||
Like the title says, browse to the install folder, find the 'New Data' folder and delete it by hand (backup first). Have Steam verify integrity of files. Steam will redownload and place back these files.
My PC runs Windows 7.
Before those two steps I had already updated the graphics drivers, set RPGMMV to run as administrator, and executed the WMI service, it didn't have an effect. My money is on the Antivirus Program getting trigger happy all of a sudden.
Hope this helps!
