Diagonal Movement on Paralax Mapping
So the thing is this, I've been using plugins so my character can walk diagonally but then recently I started doing the paralax mapping thing and I use the RegionResrictions plugin in order to get my character to walk on a background but unfortunately for some reason the diaganol walking plugin doesn't work with it, I can only move if I switch it off. I also tried other diagonal movement plugins and they don't seem to work either. But I've seen people making games where they are able to diagonallu walk on a background so wth am I doing wrong?
Can anyone help please?

Well, then they are not using the Regions Restriction for that. Simples.

That's weird. The most recent version of Yanfly's Region Restrictions plugin[yanfly.moe] seems to account for diagonal moves. What plugin are you using to enable diagonal movement?

I've tried the superorangemovement cos I was using that initially but then I tried Qmovement.Qmovement works but it shows red boxes wherever I use a region to allow events and it also shows a red box over the character and for some reason when I have the Q plugins installed the start game screen doesn't show up.

You do understand that the more you increase the number of sources of your plugins, the greater the probability that you will causes errors like these, yes?

If you know of games that use plugins to accomplish the desired mechanic, why aren't you asking the people who made those very games what plugins they used? It's not unreasonable to expect a much higher probability of the solution to this particular problem being something they have already found themselves, rather than relying on blind chance that those who post here are using similar plugin combos.

Moreover why are you relying on a plugin to accomplish something as basic as parallax mapping? If memory serves the only thing region restriction does is allow you to set different restrictions for events & players, so the majority of the tileset options you will still need to use in your mapping, won't be activated by your region ids anyways.

This tends to be a problem with MV that I've noticed. People, especially nooblets, overuse plugins to accomplish even simple tasks readily accomplished by the programs vanilla settings. The problem is, as this latest update showed, is that the more you rely upon plugins, the more likely it is that a single thing can crash your project.

Speaking of, what version of the program are you using? As there is a rather high probability that your difficulties are due in no small part to the plugins having not been updated to work in concert with the updates to the programs. & that's assuming the plugins you are seeking to use, work in concert without issue; which is always a delicate balance readily thrown off by an update to any one of the plugins in question.

Sounds like just an issue with plugin parameters:
  • Red boxes sounds like QMovement's debug display (parameter Show Colliders)
  • Title screen skip sounds like QPlus's Quick Test parameter
Does it work OK when you toggle those two off?

OMG, you are a total legend, that's exactly what the problems were. I can't thank you enough. THANKYOOOOOOU!!
You really know your stuff!

If that's what you took from my comment, then that is your failing.

It took Caethyril 4 lines of text to directly answer my problem and solve it, you wrote an essay basically calling me a noob and complaining about people using plugins. You were of zero help and just wanted to complain for the sake of it.

Don't worry about it, problem solved, right? ^_^

No,

I stated that I've observed people, especially people who are new have a tendency to overuse &/or overemphasize plugins. Even to point of using them in place of default engine mechanics, rather than extensions of those mechanics. Case in point your use of region restrictions in lieu of actual parallax mapping. Then pointed out a potential detriment of, namely that the specific plugin doesn't present all of the mechanics used via actual parallax mapping. Most of which you have a rather high probability of needing to use, hence their existence in the first place.

I questioned why you were asking here, rather than asking directly those who you knew of that were already using the mechanics in question.

In case it has escaped your notice, tech support questions aren't usually addressed by anyone official, but by about half a dozen experienced members. If those six don't know the answer, the answer tends not to manifest. Case in point another user both Caethyril & I are talking to here, that neither of us could help due to our lack of familiarity with Dragonbones.

Simply put, the question was meant to spur you towards those who had a higher probability of knowing the answer. If you are offended by that, that's your issue; it's an irrelevant bit of data to me.

I questioned, specifically because you are a nooblet, if you are aware of the problems that occur by increasing the number of plugin authors you are using in your project.

Because, I've observed nooblets have a rather bad tendency to copy & paste any plugin that looks interesting, without due consideration to potential conflicts between these plugins, or whether or not the plugin is the best solution.

If you feel slighted by that, feel free to curse the universe that failed to provide me with the omniscience required to remotely evaluate the contents of your project through the ether of cyberspace. It will be about as productive as complaining to me that you feel that way.

I questioned what version of the program you were currently using. Because in case it has escaped your notice the first two pages of both Tech Support & General Discussion is filled with people like yourself complaining about issues caused by last week's updates. Many of which involve plugins, that hadn't been updated to work in concert with the new version of the program, despite their being an open beta for plugin authors to test run with, & advanced notice of the impending update.

Ergo, what version of the program you were using would determine the potential utility of numerous solutions that have been suggested for people experiencing various issues this week.

If you honestly can't see the merit inherent to the query, then that would be your failing. & quite honestly any umbrage you took at, is not a valid concern for me.

If all I sought to do was complain or disparage you, rest assured I would have done so.

Sounds like a personal problem, for you.

I understand they make pills for that sort of thing now.
