Yanfly's Auto Passive States
I'm new to RPG Maker and I'm currently checking out the trial as I try to figure out the basic mechanics.

There's just one more box I need to check on things I want to understand before I buy. I want to create a condition where (only) magic-users will be knocked out if their MP gets to 0, or just too low. A couple hours on Google directed me to Yanfly's Auto Passive States. I've installed and activated the plugin.

On a selected actor, I've added "<Passive State: 11>" (without the quotes) to the Note field. I've created a state which is basically a duplicate of knockout, and in its note I placed, "<Passive Condition: MP Below 3>"

I tested it a couple ways--both through using magic in battle until I hit 0, and by creating an event that reduced my MP to 0. It didn't work. Any idea what I'm missing?

You may need Yanflys core engine ( A framework plugin for all his other plugins) as well. Check in the plugin notes if any other yanfly plugins are required or watch his youtube vid to see if he mentions it.

You also might need to create an event in the troops tab, that applies your knockout state if the character in questions MP hits zero. Because, the note tag might have similar activation criteria to a map event or the common event tab.

Which means it won't apply in battle without being specifically called up, by troop eventing, or something like a skill or item that activates the common event. THough I am honestly not sure it that's the case.

Yanfly has a plugin that allows you to apply specific common events to all troop events, without setting them up individually.

Thanks--I had looked through the notes and his video, but it didn't mention that as a prereq. I gave it a try anyway and that did it. Thanks.

Thanks--it did end up needing the core engine as a prereq event though it wasn't mentioned. Though that thought process gives me some interesting things to think about when I play around with the features.

I tried to pick up Ace VX a few years ago and decided it wasn't for me about five minutes in. MV seems really approachable so far, but it seems like there are a lot of nuances to learn.

There are steps leading to the heavens when it comes to learning new MV stuff. I'm working my way up myself, but i find it rewarding and fun. if you are not sure there are older posts about the difference between ACE and MV. Yanfly's plugins are also awesome tools for making games shine.

Yes the things yanfly can do with his plugins in mv are awesome.
I somehow avoided those Scripts back in my VX-Ace days, but they can speed up Content Creating very much.

I watched about 30 tutorial videos from SRDude and scoured Google--Yanfly's plugins were definitely prominent. I'm probably going to check out some more as I continue to brainstorm. I'm not a coder, so these tools are a welcome crutch!

I'm definitely loving how approachable MV is--ACE scared me away, but I feel l'm at least starting to wrap my head around MV.

If you want to feel like there is lots to learn try watching Echo's Tutorials and her Tips and Tricks vids. I have to watch them about 3 times to catch all what she teaches there in the 5-7 minutes.

Thanks for the tip, I'll give those a watch!
