RPG Maker MV

Using a new Tileset (earthbound)
I am trying to make a quick RPG for a upcoming company event ( bascially like a opening scene to kick off the eventso that it is not as dull). And yes i am new to RPG Maker somewhat ( used the PSX version way back in the day).

My question is this:

I am trying to use the following Tileset

https://www.spriters-resource.com/snes/earthbound/sheet/3163/

But it looks to be too big to import, is there a way to resize it/ cut it into smaller chunks that MV would like? Or would MV be okay with this Tileset?

Also, looking for other modern/quirky tilesets to depict and office and buildings. Trying to go for an earthbound feel to make it livley. Any help would be appreciated!

Do you want to have a nice chat with you company's legal team? Because that's how you get to get to have a nice chat with your company's legal team.

C-level really doesn't appreciate it when random minions put them in a spot by willy-nilly flaunting copyright laws.

This would not be to sell anything, in fact not be put online at all. Its for an internal company event.

And who is C level?
It's the ones that begin with a "C" - CEO, CFO, Chairman of the Board...

im sorry but my integrity as an artist and game developer will not allow me to help you with stealing work that has not been made publically useable by its creator
however there is some DLC available for rpg maker that will give you a similar look to what you want
http://www.rpgmakerweb.com/a/graphics/time-fantasy-farm-and-fort
http://www.rpgmakerweb.com/a/graphics/time-fantasy-add-on-animals
http://www.rpgmakerweb.com/a/graphics/time-fantasy-monsters

there is also a lot of DLC on the rpg maker site that is modern tilesets but they are mostly for ACE so you would need to use a tile size plugin or rezise the images to make them work

I do appreciate the help and comments. But I want to make it very clear that I am not intending to steal anything whatsoever. Anything i use would be credited, not sold , intended to sell or be distributed. this is simply to kick off a work event. If I were to do any of the above I would be fired from my work as well.

it would be a 30 seconds or less cutscene made in RPG maker with some dialog.

yes, i understand you dont want to make anything commercial, but unless the artist has said they allow their work to be used for non comercial purposes then you cant use it even for that and it would be inapropriate of us to help you do it

right. the creator of that sprite link i have originally said no credit needed but dont steal. nothing i being stolen and i am giving credit.

commercial purposes would be to sell, market a product, etc. none of that is occuring. I am not trying to do anything illegal or nefarious whatsoever.

unfortuanatly that is not the creator, that is the person who ripped the files out of the game. Those are stolen assets

Okay, i Understand now.

Geez, you guys are harsh on this guy. I know this is an old thread but Irish, you do you man. The creator of AM2R took assets from older Metroid games and you don't see people knocking DoctorM64. You see them knocking Nintendo because it was still a project by a single guy that may have used assets but also changed the game in a unique way. But of course it's not right legally, but as a continuing developer of my own Metroid fangame I support you Irish. That tileset will not be of use unless you can get every tile without a white space in between.

So you're necroposting in a thread for software you don't own or use to say "down with copyrights, do what you want"? Showing someone fully legal alternatives to using assets ripped from a game by a C&D-happy company isn't being "harsh". This guy wasn't even making a fangame. What are you on about?

LOL - I was getting into this discussion until I saw the original post are a year old. I think by now they have got over the comments and done whatever they wanted to do.

Yea.. there's no way the artist would care nor even know if you used it for the purpose the OP is intending.. You guys in the RPG Maker community come off way to harsh on this stuff imho.

*edit* well necro post lol. My point still stands though. I say use it for personal purposes if you want that's a rip of a 20 year old SNES game lol. SNES and NES games(not Nintendo or Sega) are mostly abandware at this point.

Personal-use is one thing, but to say Nintendo has abandoned old intellectual property would be... ill informed, to say the least. I can't say I'm actually suggesting you do this, but if you're going to step on someone's toes over legal matters, just make sure they don't hear about it. Nintendo can be very protective of their property.

OP did not know that the RIP Artist on that side was not the owner of that Material.
OP learned that and OP learned about RIP Sides and false Owners.
Thats a good thing in general, isnt it? Some People are new to this and therfor dont know more.

THIS THREAD IS 1 YEAR OLD =).
