Actors sitting on chairs?
Is there any way actors can sit on a chair? I have some desks where workers should work at but the chair is facing up so whenever I place a worker as a event on the chair it doesn't look like he's sitting on it. Any ideas?

A quick fix would be to go to the Tilesets tab in the database, find the chair in question, and change its passability to "star" (i.e. passable & above player).

Have the same concern but my answer is going to be using GIMP and hashing a walk character to make him sitting on said chair instead. Caethyril idea works but if you want it to look as real as possible some editing may be necessary. The same problem with beds too unless you use star passability to make them go under the covers.

yeah, that's the problem. I was hoping for a solution that won't require any editing haha but thanks to you two.

unfortunately there's no real elegant solutions to this (that I know of)

for example, Celianna's Ancient Dungeons has "looking up" chairs with backrests, but you have to adjust the tiles so that the sprites look like they're sitting on them properly (or use sprites that fit exactly to them)

Little bit of editing. Make 2 layers:

One of the whole chair, mark it on your tileset "below character" (with a circle),
And one layer of just the back of the chair (erase the rest with photoshop or gimp) and mark it "above characters" (with a star)

If you want to make it look even better, make a 3rd, invisible tile in your tileset, mark it below character, and give it "passage 4 directions" marks left, down and right (so you cant move up) and put this tile behind your chair on the map.

EDIT: I now see your reply, that you were looking to do it without editing. That would be hard. You can just mark it "above character" and put the block behind it. It kinda looks right then. But the editing is less than 10 minutes work. I sure am happy I did it.

If you just use the chairs from the SF-set, I have a ready to use tileset with the chairs and the couches for you. If you can direct message me, I will send it to you.

Doesn't yanfly have some plugin that moves tileset pieces around. Grid free doodads? Would that help to move chairs around?

Cool, I accepter. However, I can't find my file anymore. :p I need it myself, so I will remake it right now. I'll contact you in private chat once I am done.

Edit: Okay got it. :) I added beds too. :)
Now you can tuck your character is, with only the face sticking out atop the blanket.

Edit: I made the tileset. If anyone else want it, just download it from my weblog:

I've made some custom edits to character sets before for sleeping in bed/sitting on chair type stuff.

For sleeping in bed, you can take the fallen charsets (for default characters), but they often have their feet behind their head, so you need to edit them and remove the feet.
