How's the late game?
I'm a 2k hour Vermintide 2 druggie. How's this game by comparison?

1. Does the pacing speed up later? It looks way slow.

2. Is the combat system super deep and responsive like Vermintide's system? Combos that involve more than just m1 spam? Block being accessible and reliable to split second avoid damage? Headshots on melee weapons?

3. Do the weapon swings have realistic hitboxes, or do they use the crosshair for detection? If I'm aiming away from an enemy, do I still hit them with a sweep? I should, for the record, because a sweep is an arc, not a point.

4. Are there a lot of weapon types with varied move sets? Can I have a spear? A halberd? An axe? A flail?

5. Can I ignore all the loot and upgrades? I can't really be bothered to search for pennies and junk. I'm here for the skill based gameplay. Or is this a math game where I can only win if I break the upgrade system?

That's all that comes to mind. I'm sure it takes more than 2 hours to get into the late game, so I'd rather hear from someone who has actually played into the game a bit. Thanks for the info.

1. Combat is slow similar to dark and darker. You either like it or you don't.

2. No Vermintide leaps and bounds ahead of most games including this one. I don't think there are combos besides alternating light vs power attacks. Yes you can block and parry with a system for perfect timing also in place. I always aim for the head so I'm not really sure since the attack dmg fluctuates.

3. Cross hair just a point and it doesn't really indicate when you hit an enemy. There will be some like old school cartoon special effect and noise indicator when hits lands. Sweep from what i have seen is a random upgrade and it has the pathway marked. If enemy in the path they will get hit even if you aren't aiming directly at them.

4. No. There are like 5 weapons per class/character and most aren't unique with a lot of overlap. Lets say you are playing the hunter (archer) your 5 weapons are bow, sword+dagger, electric spell book, sword+shield, and ice spell book. This don't really make much sense 2 out of the 5 are magic. No. No. No. No.

5. Well no. You need the gems and currency to upgrade your characters in the main menu. For some reason gems and currency aren't shared between characters so you gotta farm up each one. I assume this is in place to inflate playtime. And as for during a run upgrades you have to pick one after every zone.

i also have 2k+ hours in Vermintide. It's not the same. It's pretty clear that the combat system is loosely based on V1. You have your block+shield bash, you have your dodging, but you also have a Stamina meter.

This is where it gets crappy in comparison. You are CONSTANTLY running out of stamina, which affects your movement, and your attack speed.

It's the single dumbest part of this game. Soo dumb.

You might like it though, it's not bad and it has potential, it's just overpriced. If $30 doesn't bother you, try it out and see, then refund it if you don't like it. I'm gonna keep going for a while so i can tell my friends if it's worth checking out at some point.

Bought the game, I'll just be answering myself.

Sadly, the short version is... the answer to most of these is no. Except yes to #5, you can safely ignore loot because it's all pretty meh
