"Not Enough Disk Space" Error on download
I posted this during the Beta but got no response. I figured the issue would be fixed before release, but now that the game is released I'm still having the same issue.

While attempting to install the game via Steam, the installation fails during the "Allocating disk space" stage with the error "Not enough disk space," despite the fact that over 700 GB of data is free on the external drive I am attempting to install it on, and over 10GB is free on the C drive.

Specs: Quad core Intel i7 2.30GHz, 8gb of RAM, running Windows 10 x64, 1 GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M

Before you ask, yes, I do have enough disk space, yes I tried restarting the computer, yes I tried reinstalling steam (actually went the extra mile and deleted my entire Steam library, both locally and on the external drive). I error checked the disk with no issues, and other games will install and run perfectly fine on the drive, including large games such as DOTA 2, TF2, and Gary's Mod.

What makes this even more confusing is this game ran perfectly at Beta release, installed without an issue, and ran perfectly from this drive, making me suspect it is a patch issue.

I'm sort of at a loss here. Any suggestions, solutions, help?

UPDATE: The game seems to download and install on my internal drive (did not bother finishing the download/install or try launching the game). However, the game's ability to launch from an external drive is a make-or-break detail for me since I have very little space in my internal drive for games. If anyone has any information that can help please let me know, or I'll be requesting my refund soon.

Go to View > settings in steam . Pick downloads then add a new steam library. If your external drive is mounted you should be able to create a directory on that to run from.

@Dr Skollob I did this long ago. This is how 99% of my steam library is run.

Does your external Hard Drive have a NTFS file system? I was getting the "not enough disk space" error while there was plenty of space on my external hard drive, then I changed it to a NTFS file system and now it is letting me download it onto the external hard drive

@Daxnar
This was likely the issue, as my external hard drive was formatted as FAT. However, I have since returned the game and received a refund. Thank you for your help, though :)
