Size of orc ships
Hello :)

This is Solo Skirmish

I just got a battlecruiser slot and got the Hammer class. So far so good.
I then eagerly went into battle and deployed The Hammer and 2 cruiser orc ships.

Much to my amazement it seemed that Battlecruiser was exactly the same size as a cruiser.
I was thinking.. uhmm wut ?!? wo donzise mah Ship!!?!?!

just to be sure i placed the Orc Battlecruiser between the Orc Cruiser and just by looking at them i could not tell wich was a Battlecruiser and wich was a cruiser.

Logic tells me that physicaly a Battlecruiser should be bigger than a Cruiser ??
Hope the battleship is bigger than the others at least.

As a side note im also not happy that the orc ships look exactly the same except the size ( the above stuff mentioned excluded )
Lore wise/in the very nature of orcs/ its in their backbone.. this simply is not possible. you will NOT find 2 orc ships that look the same. they too stupid/disorginized to make that happen :D
Granted, when you look at a orc ship when adding a ship to your feelt there is a not saying for
instance 2 costomizable slots. But they disabled since game is not released fully yet.
So there is a hope that orc ships will look differently.
LOVE the idea that you can customize your ships btw. wish it would be possible for all races ships.

but so far so good :D
just my 2 cents :)

Sincerely
Kim, Denmark

I've customised Ork ship slots so it is possible to do.

Battlecruisers, Battlekroozas ane Heavy Cruisers (IN, Orks and Chaos respectively) have no size difference to the Cruiser Class. However they do have greater power and greater weapon options.

For pretty much every race the "Heavy Cruiser" slot (whatever it is called) typically represents Cruisers with Dorsal weapons.

chaos cruisers are the same size of battlecruisers too, the difference is (for chaos) that battlecruisers have more guns

Techy'ologikaly, all da Ork Cruzah, Battah Cruzah, Battah Ship are built on da 'Oomie broken hulk, so dey shud be da same size. But den da Mekboss put more dakka dakka on da Battah Ship so it be so big like a Squiggoth, so dem 'Oomies call it Battah Ship.

as for the rest of ya... thanks :) did not know that it was intended regarding classes having no saying regarding size of it. Guess its just my mind and logic saying that you start with a light cruiser wich is small size wize. you get cruiser wich is bigger than light cruser. so logic told me that a battlecruiser should be bigger in size than a normal cruiser. this goes double for orcs in my mind :D

For all intents and purposes Battlecruisers and Cruisers are identical.

The difference is equipment and cost. A Battlecruiser typically has a stronger weapon loadout and an extra Skill slot compared to a Cruiser, and costs slightly more both to upgrade and to deploy. Beyond that, they're statistically equal.

For example, a Styx Battlecruiser is effectively a with two extra hangar decks for a slightly higher deployment cost. Beyond that, they're essentially identical.

i get that now :) its just still in my mind size matters :D so more and bigger guns equals bigger size ships :) but i accept your explonation, not lucien and others :)
now my only complaint is that they look identical no matter what class we talking about. wich is very very very very un-orc like :D

Unfortunately, for your personal desires at least, they're being very faithful to the tabletop. Pretty much all Ork ships larger than Escorts seemed prettly clearly built along a specific design set-up, just getting bigger and laden with more guns as it scaled upward. Here's a picture of a Terror Ship, a heavier Kroozer, and a Battleship model, for comparison to what the devs were working off of:

Battlecruisers don't neccessarily have more guns, rather they usually have better guns. Loadouts that make more tactical sense. And that's not even universal - I actually prefer Imperial Cruisers to their Battlecruisers because they're more specialized and arguably better for the roles I typically assign them.

Judge ships case-by-case. More importantly, don't ever assume that bigger is better. Take the Styx and Ork Basha for example.

The Basha may be small, but well equipped they're a menace to society. With Bad Moon favour they're the greatest thing that's ever happened to you in Data Recovery: they can steal Data from 20,000 Units or more, and have an extra upgrade slot for massive speed. With Goff favour, they're surprisingly lethal and can gravely wound much larger ships if allowed to run free.

Styx are downright nasty. Fast, agile and packing enormous firepower. Better yet, all their weapons face forwards - you couldn't ask for a better ship to pair with Khorne's favour. Strong fighter abilities complete a very deadly package - never let a Styx out of your sight. They're one of Chaos best offensive warships.

The Orks are, being perfectly honest, the absolute kings of data recovery now.

Boarding Torpedoes, Tellyporta attacks, Shokk Attack Gun boardings at nova-kannon ranges... add on that they don't really have to play hide and seek, the best place for the Ork ship with the Data is up and in the face of the enemy where they can capitalise and take it right back with Orky Boarding shenanigans.

Don't neglect your smaller ships, they're every bit as important as your Battleships and Cruisers.

You won't always deploy your Battleship. I know I don't, and there are battles where I don't even deploy a Battlecruiser. It's all situational: sometimes you need a strong, immovable defensive formation and othertimes you need speed and flexibility.

You'll really start to feel this when you start playing Chaos. Chaos are arguably deadliest using smaller ships and evasion tactics. They can fight, but nowhere near as well as Orkz. You want to stay agile and make full use of terrain, and that's a lot easier with faster ships like the Styx and Hellbringer than with Battleships.

The Battleships still play an important role, but they're just another tool in your arsenal.

The missions I keep Battleships out of are typically Data Recovery and Convoy. They're simply too slow, the Ork Battleship is an exception. (As it has SOOO many options for boarding.)
