Void shield transfer - Is this working as intended? Or is this too strong?
When i first saw this upgrade, i was in the "meh" camp, as i assumed it LITERALLY meant shift the shields from ship A) -> ship B), leaving ship A without shields- (numbers purely for demonstrative purposes)
:
if A) had 200/200, and B) had 0/200, it would become -VST-> A) 0/200 and B) 200/200.

But from what I see, it would be more appropriate to call it "secondary shield bank" as it comes at zero cost to the ship doing the transferring, as it's currently:
A) 200/200 and B) 0/200 -VST-> A) 200/200 and B) 200/200.

What's more perplexing is how, despite the different weight-classes of ships having different shield strengths, this ability will result in a full shield bar.

Or, if we follow a train of "logic"-

1) Different weight classes have different shield strengths. Ok.
2) There is an ability to shift shields from one ship to another. Ok.
3) This ability does not drain the shields of the ship that is doing the transferring. Errrr...
4) A battleship can replenish the shields of a light cruiser to full. Ok.
5) A light cruiser can replenish teh shields of a battleship to full. ...what?
6) Irrespective of what you transfer to, the cooldown is exactly the same. ehh....

So at an extreme example:

A) 100/200 + B) 0/300 -VST-> A) 100/200 + B) 300/300

As a side note, I'm wondering if anyone else takes issue with the fact that abilities don't scale, despite costing more. A bomb is a bomb, battleship or light cruiser. A taunt is a taunt, battleship or light cruiser. But that's another issue entirely.

You might say "focus his smaller ships then, duh". Which, whilst tactically sound, maybe, doesn't addess the core issue.

P.S, If i'm 100% wrong on some of these points, please call me out for it. I do not actually use this ability, but I'm writing this after a) ingame observations and b) watching the stream of someone who is using this on all his ships. And his light cruisers are definitely fully recharging the shields of his battlecruisers.

The scaling comes from how many abilities a ship has. Light cruiser 1, cruiser 2, BC 3, BShip 4. So there is scale in the amount of modules, and this seems to work out pretty well. Yes Chaos Hellbringers with shield transfer is a common option, and a good one, but it means giving up bombs or blinks or Invulnerabilities. Everything has its trade off.

Shield transfer is a go-to skill for my fleets. I think I only have 2 ships without it, the specilized data runner and specialized undefeatable admiral.

From day 1 I saw this ability and knew instantly it was a must. I use it on bascially all my Imperial Navy ships below battleship and boost max shields on those ships. Its great for a brawl heavy build.

While I don't think it is stupid OP. I think it is strong enough to be looked at and tweaked. I agree that maybe it would be good too scale its effects relative to ship sizes. So you can have LCs fully restore shields to LCs and below. But if they tried to restore a C's shields maybe it would only restore say 80-90%. something like every ship class higher is negative 5-15% shields transfered. And then have something like for every ship class below the level of the ship restoring it reduces the cool down by 5-15%.

I kinda understand the reasoning for its strength though. If too severely nerfed it would make long range weapons and abilities much stronger. It kinda forces you to engage the enemy in some fashion and not sit at a safe distance. I think that is a good effect. Forcing players to engage and masterfully maneuver their ships and their formations rather than have it a battle of click abilities. I mean you can basically negate nova's/bombspam by paying attention and shield transferring to the ship getting bombarded.

Eitherway if any tweak is made it needs to be small at first and watch its affect on the general meta.
Speaking of the devil, IT appears that it wasn't mentioned in the patch notes but VST was nerfed/fixed.

indeed. It is now 100 across the board. Not a fan. Seems like a sizable nerf to it making it much weaker. Oh well. Will see how the meta shifts to adapt. long range spam like novas and bombs have just gotton stronger.

Might be interested in seeing if the atempt to try and scale some of these abilities depending on the ship size.
