so will there be more story campaign? like orks ect? maybe as dlc?
also how long does it take to complete the story?
is there re-playability?>
As a fan of the TT, I personally really enjoyed the single player (maybe not so much my eldar allies missions!) but am also almost exclusively a single player gamer.
Worth it, in my opinion.
turn base game? i thought its like a point and click game like a rts right?
Instead, it's open ended. You play as the imperial navy battlefleet from the gothic sector. You have about 50 planets to defend from Ork, Eldar, Chaos, and Rebel forces.
You do this by playing missions. About a dozen are storylike missions with dialogue in them, special objectives or deployment, special ships, special abilities, whatever.
The rest are regular skirmishes that you play at a varying number of points values. 300 points is about 2 small ships and a tiny escort. 700 points gets you a lot more.
You don't HAVE TO win any mission, really, but there are consequences for losing missions, and if you lose too many times, the campaign is over.
Each turn, several (usually between 2 and 10) planets will be available to fight over. Some are being invaded, others you are trying to take back. Choose wisely, you can only fight about 3 battles per turn.
The battles are RTS real time (but no economy, base building, etc.), but the actual campaign is essentially turn based. Between battles, you can upgrade ships, repair damaged ships, unlock new ships...
Multiplayer is basically a simplified version of this. No planets or turns or whatever, you just play battles, then upgrade your fleet, then play more battles.
This game is addicting and fun as he'll. If you love strategy, navy/space/40k combat, and want to watch battleships that are literally several kilometers long ram each other, buy this game.
Campaign alone could probably get you 20 hours of gameplay, and you can replay it pretty nicely since there's different cutscenes for whether you win or lose certain missions.
cheers for the info mate, just wanna make sure i play it as ive boought before, full priced games without playing more than 30 mins of the games, so it seems fun, but i think you only control like 3 units at a time, most rts have many units to control, like 20 to 50+
ive played the warhammer series and like them alot but this one is quite different you see, maybe it will be on sale soon? i'll need to think about it,,,,
PROS:
1) Long campaign. I finished at turn 34...that is still 100+ battles with an average of 3 deployments per turn.
2) Story was meh. Although please keep in mind I am 40 years old and gaming since 8 so there are not too many storylines I have not seen. Given that and the fact that this is billed as a space naval combat game then the story is just icing.
3) The feel of the game was definately 40k. Bleak and hopeless with a mixed bag of success and failure. Having Eldar and Orks hit you as well as Chaos definately gives it a run for the hills feel and the percevering part is the reward.
CONS:
1) AI is not so great but has a few shining moments. I actually got counter ambushed by Chaos forces when I was playing sniper in a dust cloud. Mostly though its charge into range and settle the match quickly. Eldar are also played very very badly in the campaign.
2) Deployment types are very limited. They should have worked on deplyment types more for some variety. Even with that though the specialized missions during the campaign help out. I just wish the standard missions more interesting or the AI more dynamic in strategies for each type.
Hope this helps, and if you do get it enjoy it. :).
I'd say there is enough content and replayability to buy it without touching multiplayer at all.
why would u say that?
