That is cause the enemy can warp out in under 10 seconds cause you know..why not?! :D

Yeah really a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mission type. basically down to whoever can do more boarding actions wins

Normal is way to hard. Im getting to the point where I don't want to play this.

Don't steal data too early, concetrate on killing enemy line ships to limit their ability to take it back. Escort ship are a non-priority here as they can not take it back. Make sure you are planniing your exit for after you get the data and use rest of your fleet as a screen to block chasers, MWJ on your data stealing ship is a huge help as well.

I agree with you. It is poorly designed mission type. On a Ork mission I used all my abilities to get the data (boarding) before I lost it instantly 10 seconds after. And there is no way that I can protect my self from boarding actions. Please redisign those missions. Why we can not recover the data from detroyed vessel ? Why we have to succeed the boarding action ? Where is the strategy and fleet thinking in all this ?

I try to do that but im forced to only go in with 3 ships due the the fleet limit. THey have multiple battlecruisers and light cruisers and beofre I have a chance to deal with their support fleet the data ship jumps away. Really wish they balance this a little better.

Save you engine boost and Stasis bomb and it is pretty easy. When you approach range go to cogitator mode, Drop a stasis bomb on the target, capture, point your tragectory away and hit engine Full (boost whatever), and turn off cogitator. If you have other ships move them in a blocking line. You ship should get away just fine.

And actually you can do that without the statis bomb also, works nearly as well. And on all factions.

My other 2 ships got taunted leaving only one ship to pursue. In one mission.

You can recover the data from destroyed vessels. A small floaty capsule like thingy floats around and you just have to fly over it. I noticed it just by chance because there is no arrow pointing, HEY GET THIS xD. But still, i don't find this type of mission hard at all :S You can't just zerg and hope to get away with it. You are supposed to plan. Slow mo is there also for a reason ^^.

the slow mo helps for sure but I have been not using it becuse is dont want to get dependent on it. in case it gets nerfed or striped from multi player

You can protect yourself from ligthing strikes by having a active shield up, you can protect yourself from boarding actions by not beeing in a broadside of an enemy. MWJ's and stasis fields and the booster instant refuel skill are really helpful in these missions.

it takes a different built ship than what you might be more familar with, and early on in your admirals career can be difficult to deal with no matter what you do.

this ^ is how not to do data recovery..........

i often do and succeed in data recovery with far less boarding actions available than my opponent has, AND i use eldar to do it ( so i have NO shields to protect against the take ). Thats on attack as well btw, not through a run for 3 mins till i can warp as defense.

Timing is crucial, if your going to grab the data at the first oportuniy you can, your likely going to lose. You have to make sure that when you grab the data, you can defend it long enough to get out of range of the retake and warp asap. This is where your specialist built ship comes into it, you MUST HAVE decreased warp out time for crew, speed and shield recharge / bonuses.

I like to think about it like rugby ( or football as yanks call it ), and the moves that occur in such games translate well to BF:G on these missions. Its all about taking the ball at the right time, not just when you can, and defending it just long enough to get the point.

I got the data and my capital ship, which stole the data warped out successfully. Then they somehow got the data back and warped out. WTF
