Oh my, the imperium are Necromongers!
Can't help but see the similarities between the Chronicles of Riddick Necromongers and the Imperium! Wonder if they used them as inspiration?

You are wrong, the Imperium are second most peaceful faction in the universe.
Yeah its more likely the necromongers was influenced by 40k :)

Btw, the way technology is treated as religion always makes me think of "Foundation" by Isac Asimov where a highly advanced colony masks its technological knowledge as religion to make neighbouring colonies dependent on their wellfare!
I actually wonder where you see the similarities.

aside from the whole "murder-death everything regardless of the consequences if they so much as have the wrong eye color"?

yeah no, most peaceful faction is the tau, as they openly allow converts to enter their fold, and will go to great diplomatic lengths to avoid a war if they see it as possible

next most peaceful would be the eldar, as they only go to war when deemed absolutely necessary for their survival or to maintain a stable future

after the eldar would come the necrons, are they violent? yes, but only if you go poking around in their ruins or happen to be within a tombworlds "territory", they only rarely go on far reaching genocides

after the necrons would liekly come the dark eldar, while they themselves are certainly VIOLENT their absolute fear of death means they avoid some fo the more MAD principles the other factions employ

after the dark eldar the NEXT most peaeful is the imperium, who will kill you for being anything other than "pure human" (lol except if your a space marine, you get a pass there), eyes an odd color? your dead. a little too short? your dead. a little too smart? your dead. NOT one of those your game gets put into a lottery where your either
A) shiped off to a meat-grinder eternal-war world
B) sacrificed to some heinous inquisitorial internal crusade because a new general needs practice killing civilians
C) victim of an unfortunate "accident" because you happen to see the wrong marine/inquisitor or know what chaos is, so your whole world is just burned

imperium is literally fueled by war, they cant not be at war, theyre basically smaller orks
Inquisitors and Rogue Traders are known to employ Mutant and Aliens in their entourage. What's that about pure human again?

they did say "Second" most peaceful faction.
Tau: Enter our oppressive empire where at best you can be a second class sitizen or be killed... or mind controlled and enslaved like our own population.

Eldar: We just kill you if it is necessary for our survival. You know. Ultimatly we have to kill everyone because that is necessary for our unthreatened survival.

Necrons: We kill for we hate all that is alive. You alive? We will kill you.

Dark Eldar: We regularly raid setlements to gather new souls to tormet. We mastered the art of perversion and torture but we wont kill all of you. We need some soul -lifestock.

Imperium: Have some decent human DNA, dont work against us, pray to the emperor, do your duty and you may(TM) life. Lots of things can go wrong tho.

Orks: We kill.

rogue traders only employ them because theya rent *IN* the imperium, and inquisitors REGULARLY get in trouble for ♥♥♥♥ they get into, both of those factions toe a fine line between "possibly a heretic" and "assemble an entire chapter of space marines to go kill that ♥♥♥♥♥♥"
Actually, Heleana Jerico, inquisitors and mother to famed bounty hunter Kal Jerico, has employed one Eldar and two Kroot in her warband. The second Kroot survived after Kronos.
I guess three snowflakes of an inquisitor make genocide on the other side even?
The imperium is quite nice afterall xD
In the imp the mutant is hated but honestly humanity has really fallen apart. The level or acceptable included, Squats, Ratlings, Orgins, Navigators, citizens (all have mutations) and select aliens who do not eat people or trade in them. No go, Heresy, Plaigue zombies, Non sanctioned psycers, non bound deamon hosts, aliens who the emperor was not cool with.

Eldar- Made the eye of terror. Who cares how nice they are now they live long enough people who were there still are alive and they made the eye of terror.

Chaos- Daddy issues of a favorite son who was posessed. actually worse.

Tao- They shure fight a lot and take over cultures.

Orks- Orks is made for fightin.

Nids- Hungry moth going to light of terra

Necrons- seven people think for everyone and these seven want death that never comes to them.
