Is every low-level Ork mission this impossible?
I've posted elsewhere about the literal impossibility of beating an Ork blockade ("breakthrough"), because even when you achieve all the objectives you still lose. But now I've spent the last several hours trying to win a single "cruiser clash", and it's virtually as bad.

I say 'virtually' because I can't even get to the point where I find out if killing them all ends in victory or defeat. The best I can do, with my measly 450 point cap, is bring a cruiser, a couple of light cruisers, and maybe an escort or so, or I can bring four cruisers. They're bringing TEN ships to the party by comparison, and I have to kill them all: my last attempt featuring 2 cruisers, 4 light cruisers, and 4 escorts.

This is utterly ridiculous. What kind of crack were the developers smoking?!

Yup. Confirmed. Now I've made it to chapter 3, and I can't win a single battle. Every situation is ridiculous. If I have 2 platforms to defend, the Orks show up with twice my ships and destroy me completely. If I have data to protect, the Eldar show up, grab it, and drive off 4x as fast as I can follow. If I have a convoy to protect, the Orks show up with twice or three times my ships and destroy them all. **** this game.

if its data recovery or protect vs eldar
bring light ships
the key is in the number of boarding actions you can have
eldar have no defense vs lightning strike
they take it, you take it back, they take it back you take it back until you have more lightning strikes, then you warp out with them having noway to stop it

that or you have micro warp jump and boost refill and ram the bastards
or i guess nova cannons tho those are pretty bad vs ai, better to bring torps
just dont use your boardings early
the last to grab wins if you dont get the kill

convoy protection
dont listen to spire
group up in one group, hug the map edge
watch for the slow down just before they boost and either boost with the transport to dodge or even better ram them to the side jst as they start to boost
they are unable to stop boosting and slow to turn
so by the time they have turned they are basically unable to catch up and be a treat to your transports again

the game gets easier once you get used to your ships
beating the entire campaign on the hardest difficulty without losing a single line ship and without losing a single mission is perfectly possible
but if normal is too hard , practice on easy, its why it exists
This game assumes players to at least have a certain level of experience and competence in RTS games. If you never grew up playing Starcraft, Warcraft, Red Alert, C&C, and Age of Empire, you are probably as clueless as those Chinese players that recently started playing Company of Heroes or any recent RTS games, without cheats and map hack, that is.
If you are a kid with less than 1000 hours in RTS genre games, accumulated so far in your life, just pick easy mode and enjoy the story line, which is pretty good in my opinion.

But yes, there are certain modes that I don't like and wish not to waste my time on because it's just somewhat impossible, except without some luck in skills and starting map setup. I don't even bother with breakthrough (offensive), probably the worst mode in the game. I'm glad the devs did away with the tedious modes you found in BFGA1. All those game modes beomce bonus missions that are nice to have but not necessary in BFGA2, alongside Cruiser Clash and Victory Point as the main objectives.

FWIW, I've been playing RTS games since the C&C series. I can handle Homeworld, Starcraft 1/2, and a lot of such games. But when I can only bring 4 ships to a 10+ ship brawl, I can't make that work. All the micro in the world doesn't stop that near-dozen Ork ships from getting to me and blowing mine to bits.

You can thin them out before they close in, with super powerful Nova cannons, unlimited torpedoes spam, and bomber squadrons. If that doesn't work, get stasis bombs.
You must have picked the wrong ships, skill upgrades, and special abilities.
The campaign wholly depends on you doing well and making right choices at the very beginning. Every mistake is stacked up against you in the long, and even longer, term. Like student loans, home loans, or little resentment and grudges built up over time in relationship or marriage, ha HA.

Are you sure you have a firm grasp of the RTS game design? When playing RTS games, you should always have the devs' own thinking in mind because they make the games. If you play enough RTS games, it's easy to see which part of the game is a patch-up, band-aid, or thought-afters, and which is the core that's originally conceived. Sounds like you are treating the game with the "head-banging at the wall till it breaks" attitude. If the first approach doesn't work, try another.

Well, I guess everyone is different. You create your own reality in your head. If you think you are right, move on. Yes, it's unbeatable, to you I guess.
I'm doing just fine, even with Iron Man in Hard mode.

The devs removed a lot of abilities that were essential to completing some missions or at least not making them a slog due to "Muh MP Balance" which is still broken by the way. The end result they completely ruined the Campaign. This game was fun and enjoyable when it first launched but the devs reckless "balance" patches destroyed anything that made this game remotely good.

why would you taunt orks
they already play like that

The day I see you post a video of your four light cruisers beating two Ork battle cruisers, four light cruisers, four escorts, and then destroying two light stations and getting the victory screen with Iron Man Hard mode is the day I'll believe it.

Or do you just mean that's what happens "in your head"?

If you have to deal with "two Ork battle cruisers, four light cruisers, four escorts" and the rest, any good player should have already leveled up to the point that he can get proper units to counter them all.
The fact that you only have four light cruisers to deal with them says a lot more about your inabilities to win any deployment at any given turn, and your ignorant stupidity to pick any right ships and abilities for the job. The fact is, if you kept losing a lot of fights, you don't level up as fast and definitely won't get as many resource points by losing most of them.
So,
look yourself in the mirror and have a deep look at yourself. Unless you are like Trump, who is shameless and delusionally confident, you should just get over it and L2P.
You must be American by the way you blame everything for anything, maybe Texas or the South.

Um, you do know that in the early campaign those missions are limited to 300 points, regardless of how well you've done at any mission, right? Now you sound like you haven't even played the game. So I think you know where you can shove it.

you also see no battlecruisers in the start of the campaign
and considering your not playing on hard orks can at most bring 2 battlecruisers and a escort for 300
if the only thing you have is light cruisers why dont you just kill the stations and run
they are fragile and orks cant catch you

He just wants to waste words and time. Like the saying goes, "don't feed the animal, if you don't want it to keep coming back." There's no point reasoning with him. He's just venting out his frustration on this forum. He's crying and wants people to hold his hands and agree with him. Not really here about how to learn the game and overcome problems.

Because even if you destroy both stations, the only objectives listed, you still don't win. Paradoxically, on roughly my 50th attempt tonight the RNG gods favored me, and I actually destroyed ALL of the Ork ships but NONE of the platforms, and I won. Which makes zero sense. This game is clearly **** in various respects.

No, what I hoped for was help. What I got were douche bags telling me I'm not seeing what I'm seeing and offering little more than "git gudz". Thus, there's no point in listening to idiots.
