Singleplayer Cheats and VAC

Just bought this. After I finish the campaign, I'm going to want to screw around in singleplayer ONLY using something like cheat engine. Can I do so without incurring the wrath of VAC? I have zero interest in multiplayer and will never touch it.

single player saves can be edited safely as far as i know
