My data just disappeared..

I don't even know what happened. I just played this last night and everything was fine, but when I started it up today, it started up as if it was the first time I ever opened the game, and all my challenge progress has been completely lost. Has this happened to anyone else?

EDIT: to clarify, the data had been there for a long while. I just recently got back to working on challenges and had been playing it for the past several days. I changed nothing in settings, either in the game or in Steam.

I know from personal experience that the beaten games (gold medals) vanish if the Options2.sav corrupts. Challenges are saved in a file called "Challenges.sav"

The game's save directory is:

%APPDATA%\MegaMan

Inside that directory should be a sub directory where the following files are:

Challenge_<numbers>.sav		Used for challenges replay data.
Challenges.sav			Used for cleared challenges.
Options2.sav			Used for game settings and cleared games.
<game>-00.sav			Used for quicksave/savestate.

The game doesn't store saves on Steam Cloud, so it's best idea to create backups.

same thing happened to me. is there anyway to get my data back?
if not is there a save editor so i can make it so mega man 1 and 2 are finished (i was near the end of 3)

Yeah this game has lots of cloud sync problems for some reason. Practically every time I play it, the status updates saying that the cloud save is out of date.

Just came here because my save disappeared too after not playing for a while, my challenges are gone, but my gold times still appear on the leaderboard, so I don't know if they'll still count toward achievements or if I have to gold medal them again.

In all fairness, this entire collection feels like it was made out of popsicle sticks.
Not saying that its bad, just saying that it feels like it'll fall appart into pieces at any moment lol.
Granted, I suppose this is why it was the first mega man collection of the 2010s
