Mega Man 2 Boss Order?
For people that are you know, actually playing the game...

So far, I've done this:
1. Metal Man
2. Wood Man -because you know saws cut wood
3. Bubble Man - the saws worked well here also
4.?
5.?
6.?
7.?
8.?

Who to next and what is best power against? Thanks!
Btw so far I'm liking the collection and the extras, the price was cheap and I felt like supporting projects like this, would like to see the X series but doubtfull

I think I always started with Flash Man, followed by Metal Man. From then on... no idea, it's been too long. :)

Official Order
Metalman -> Bubbleman -> Heatman -> Woodman -> Airman -> Crashman -> Flash Man -> Quickman -> Metalman

Saws work well on 4 bosses, Metalman, Bubbleman, Woodman, and Flashman, you can choose to go for any of these.

Saws will deflect off Airman, Heatman, Quickman, and Crashman iirc but you can easily beat Airman with the buster if you want to go for him next, which i recommend since he gives you Item 2 which can help with Heatman's stage.

My recommended order is

Metalman -> Bubbleman or Airman -> Heatman -> Woodman/Flashman/Crashman-> Finish off with Quickman.

Quickman's HP can be reduced to half with Flash stopper and the crash bombs will hurt him decently.

If i remeber it corectly the metal blade hardly drained the energy meter, i used it instead of the main weapon.

I started off with metal man and the blade thing is insanely good so far.

Here's how I usually tackle it:

  1. Quick Man (I like the challenge. My friend Chris and I rented the game when we were like, 12 years old -- our first Mega Man game -- and didn't realize that you could take the robot masters in any order, so the first boss we fought was Quick Man. Needless to say, I got really, really good at his stage... but you'll probably want to skip it until after Flash Man... Although Quick Man's boomerang is an extremely economical weapon that works good on ground-based enemies throughout the game)
  2. Air Man (He's especially weak to the Mega Buster, and you get Item 2, which helps out in navigating almost every other stage)
  3. Metal Man (His omni-directional weapon is BY FAR the most useful projectile in ANY Mega Man game)
  4. Bubble Man (Metal Man's weapon tears through this stage with the greatest of ease, and is sharp and pointy enough to pop Bubble Man in a few hits)
  5. Crash Man (You'll definitely want to have either Metal Man's or Wood Man's weapon for this stage. Crash Man himself is super-weak to Air Man's weapon)
  6. Heat Man (You'll need Bubble Man's weapon to put him out)
  7. Wood Man (Easy stage, relatively easy boss. You can take him out with Metal Man's saw blades in a few hits, but for fun, try hitting him with a fully powered-up blast from Heat Man's weapon)
  8. Flash Man (It's good to have Crash Man's weapon for the walls, and Item 1 from Heat Man's stage comes in handy here)
  9. Quick Man, for reals this time, wussies (You can either use Flash Man's weapon to help you get through the stage -- RECOMMENDED -- or to take away 1/2 of Quick Man's health bar. Otherwise the Mega buster works quite well.

I like starting with Air Man. Don't need any of the items to get everything on it and the boss is simple enough to buster-only kill.

You REALLY want Bubble Lead and Item-2 from Air Man for Heat Man and you REALLY want Time Stopper (Flash Man's weapon) for Quick Man. Other than that it's pretty much whatever. Metal Blades are easy enough to get and work on Flash, Bubble and Wood, which aren't that hard anyway and Flash/Wood have other weaknesses too (Crash and Bubble for Flash, Crash and Heat for Wood); Crash is easy anyway but Air Shooter demolishes him, Air Man isn't too bad if you just spam your Mega Buster but the Leaf Shield helps.

Here's what works for me. I planned this to try to have as many E-tanks as possible going into the Wily stages.

1 and 2. Air Man / Bubble Man
-- Both of these can be easily beaten with the Mega Buster, so it doesn't matter which one you do first. For all of the remaining bosses, you'll have the weapon they're weak to. Air Man also gives you Item-2, which makes Heat Man's stage easier.
3. Heat Man
4. Wood Man
-- The above four levels have no E-tanks to worry about. In the remaining levels, you'll want to collect all of the E-tanks and avoid getting a Game Over so you don't lose them. Restart with a password if you have fewer than 2 lives after finishing a level.
5. Crash Man
6. Flash Man
7. Quick Man
8. Metal Man
