You (Dan Zoom) might have figured it out by now that its possible, but I was trying to figure it out myself today. Under the control options there is a pause option. I'm using a Xbox controller and the game defaults it to using the R button. I originally thought I had to hit the Start button, but no, its the R button that starts the option to utilize the pause buffer. With a little testing you have to give it a slight delay between the initial hit on the yellow devils eye (or any other tanky enemy you are trying to use this on), then watch as the attack hits slowly more than once doing massive damage. As for someone who hadn't tried using the pause glitch since the collection came out on my 3ds back in the day, I found that I could manage to get it up and going. Good luck! Still working as from 1987 to the posting of this reply as of 3-2-2024.
the trick is not a bug since it exploit a game mechanic.
and also the invisibility frames reset after a few seconds despite the game being paused.
because of this, you can register multiple hits with the same weapon tecnicaly (any weapon)
its just that Elecmans weapon take up 2 blocks hitbox and because of this its easyer to execute the move.
you should be able to do this with bombmans weapon as well the time window is just alot shorter
