Japanese game companies rarely port to Linux, or allow anybody to outsource it.
In the steam client settings under Steam Play you need to tick "enable Steam Play for all games" or something like that and then the option to install will appear in the normal place when looking at the game in your library.
I used an Xbox ONE controller which also worked fine.
You may need to update your graphics drivers, I'm not sure. On Linux mint I used the Steam Play recommended repository for nvidia drivers and currently my version is 396.54 on GTX970.

brsinal: what I did was first change my directory to $HOME/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Suzy before running this command (and yes, due to the spacing in the directory name, quotations MUST be used or you get a syntax error). "../Proton 3.16/dist/bin/wine" Proteus.exe
