How the hell do you beat these games?!
Enemies and projectiles are flying way too fast towards you so you can't react fast enough and it's impossible sometimes to know where the bullets and stuff will be

edit: it was much easier than I thought and I didn't realize you can change suit so you can use other weapons lol

Memorization

Sadly those are the skillset you need for 2D side scrollers. But you can react to them, and some memorization. Can you do an example of a certain enemy and projectile you are having trouble avoiding?

It's fascinating that you are having issues while I don't have those issues, but then, I absolutely suck at 3D souls like games, I cannot parry for the life of me.

I'm usually good at plattformers like this but there's something about NES games that makes it feel like it's impossible to beat them, SNES games are difficult too but still feel possible to beat. Also the bosses especially feel impossible to beat in the NES Megaman games. I think I even beat a Mario Maker level one time with like 1.9% clear rate on it but still NES games are too difficult for me lol

some stuff is in fact not possible to avoid, there's a lot of traps just meant to take your health. sometimes you just take the damage, keep going, and then farm some enemies ahead to recover health points from health orb drops.

Tbh I kept playing and it wasn't that hard, also I somehow didn't figure out that you get the bosses weapons when you defeat them lol
Back in the day, a lot of games, including the Mega Man series were trial and error game play. The hitboxes of Guts Man's mobile platforms are weird (you can fall through the platform you swear you're standing on the hinge of), and sometimes difficulty spikes in weird ways in other entries. However, despite dying countless times, I still consider Mega Man games easy compared to other Capcom games of the time.

The games get really easy if you just get in the zone.

Pretty much very enemy does have some kind of pattern you can pick up on, Like those bullet bills in MM1 will always fly in a sine path. Projectiles pretty much always either home in on locations or fire with the same trajectory every time--it's never random. It's about learning to pay attention to those things. You get better at it as you play more & it carries over from game to game. It's more a skill you develop than something you learn about the game.

That's only half of it though. Another important thing when dealing with stage enemies in these games is not being afraid to use weapon energy on them. Most people struggle in regular stages because they only use Special Weapons on bosses, but every stage enemy has a weakness too; once you start experimenting around and finding those weaknesses you really go far. Like a lot of MM1 enemies are weak to Fire Storm, such as Pickmen and Gabyoalls (which is useful since they're nigh impossible to kill otherwise). Or in MM2 it's Metal Blade that's absolutely busted.

You also need to use utilities like Magnet Beam, Rush, & MM2's items. You can skip A LOT if you're clever with how you use those

Also btw have no shame in rewind + save states. They're really useful for learning these games! I know I probably wrote wayyy more than you wanted/needed but I adore these games so much and will take any opportunity to talk about this stuff.

Holy cow... you were accidentally doing a buster-only run?!
No wonder you were having a hard time at it.

That's kinda hardcore, to be honest.

Idk if it was hardcore and I wasn't able to beat the bosses with only the buster lol
Okay, zoomer.

These games become much easier if you use the rewind feature.

I don't think I've ever been bold enough to try a Buster-only run.
Outside of fighting bosses in Mega Man Powered Up with Buster-only, as that's the only way to unlock that MM1 boss to play as.
(Elec Man was an unholy nightmare to unlock that way...)
