Wish it had Fast Weapons Switching!
Can't believe you can't just use the L and R buttons (or whatever else you prefer) to switch between weapons instead of going through the clumsy menus! This was established as the standard over a decade ago in Maga Man games and their re-releases! Was hoping this collection would continue to include this but seems not, sucks.

As they were designed to be as faithful to the NES as possible in this release, it makes sense that they'd leave that feature out. You didn't have it on the NES and you didn't need it.

Besides, I prefer not having it so that I can stop and think for a second about what I'll need to do especially if i'm weapon swapping in the middle of the action.

As I said, the previous versions had it and this version doesn't do much to convince me it's trying to be as faithful to the NES versions as possible with how it lest you save/load any time and alows for auto-fire. Odd that they would add those convenience features but remove another.
Unfortunately they probably can't change it now. It would affect challenge times.

Oh no! People's precious challenge times... Let us all suffer so they may have their glory for all eternity. Let's not think of some simple solution, like say, putting an asterix mark to all old challenge times to indicate who used the older way, maybe even let people select if the wanna use such weapon switching in the options then mark them as such in the challenge boards.
the original 6 megaman games didn't have quick weapon switching why do it for the remastered version

The reason weapon swapping isn't programmed in is that these games are being emulated, not rebuilt. The NES didn't have shoulder buttons, so shoulder swapping obviously wasn't possible.

They literally added those QOL features to the games on PS1 (JP) and GameCube, alongside a guidance mode, that gives tips to newcomers on what to look out for during specific level sections. The games weren't emulated, but instead direct ports, this also not having to deal with sprite flickering and other emulation problems. It's really a shame they just threw that stuff away and included save states and rewinding - some of the features destroying the feel of the game the most. Too bad they didn't go back to the collections and give them the Zero/ZX treatment, with an easy mode (or the GC Collection Guidance Mode) and a Save Assist Feature, along with said quick weapon switching.

Look for Rockman Complete Works, if you're interested. The Original version (that wasn't the ported GC Anniversary Collection) also had some strange and unique Pocketstation Features with Minigames, that let you upgrade Mega Man's Stats and make him OP as hell (we're talking a gigantic health bar and absurd amounts of damage, never again seen in a similar form in the series).

It's a real shame they didn't take the effort for the Classic and X Collections as they did with the old Complete Works/Anniversary Collection and the Zero/ZX Collection, were they took the Source Code of those games and used that to improve on them, while not changing anything of what made them what they are.
