Weird Gemini Man glitch

This happened to me yesterday night while I was trying a boss rush challenge. I was streaming it for an English-speaking friend, which is why this footage even exists in the first place (also explains why I'm even attempting to speak English, which isn't my first language!).

Anyway, as you can see, Gemini Man just poofed out of existence! I never saw this happen before, not even in the original NES game! What the heck happened? Does anybody know?

It appears to be a very rare glitch.

It's rare glitch that's present in all versions of MM3. I've even had it happen to me in the Complete Works version for PS1. Don't know what actually causes it, but I think it has to do with the game executing the code to get rid of the copy a second time by mistake.
