Radiation in the 10,000 range.
So, with less than a stack of uranium in the cargo rooms, 90% of the ship is irradiated. The Rad spray doesn't seem to work, and we've jettisoned the uranium. So, is it a salvage and rebuild and lose the insurance? Or is there a way to recover?

There is a radiation 'extinguisher' just like the fire extinguisher you can build and use. Carbon based radiation armor which I highly recommend you make and make sure you have secondary emergency venting to remove the radiation. That helps as well.

Make the rad suits, vent the ship for a bit. There used to be a feature that if you 'modify' the ship, at a station, the rads go away. Not sure if that is still a thing, but it's cheaty.

It will take a minute for the rads to dissipate. Did I mention good venting? Eventually, you will learn to door and bulkhead off your storage areas, and add cargo pads last. The first pad you place in the designer, is the first pad that gets cargo.

This is a known glitch, but it appears to do no damage.

Only way to fix it is to reassemble your ship.

it does almost insta-kill anyone without hazard armor. But, as we insured it, it's easier to unload it, and have it destroyed and get the insurance payout, rather than salvage and reinsure.

Depending on how heavy your ship is, yes, that'd be a better solution. Though keep in mind you'll only get a fraction of the invested materials back. If materials are not an issue, then by all means.
