While someone is driving, you can do something else, like creating drones or chasing inboard invasion '' skrill eggs ''.
There's also no on-board combat vs NPCs (yet?), so combatwise it's somewhat dull for a single player once you figure out the different entities, and how to build a ship to take them on.
However the devs have just a few days ago started hinting at wanting to add NPC ships so solo/PvE players can have some of the experiences PvP players have, so might be worth another look in some time, if I were to hazard a guess then come have another look in 6 months.
- Buy a starter ship
- Complete standard missions (e.g. go shoot X, go deliver X; sandbox not story line, minimal flavor text), mine and sell resources, shoot and salvage Skrill (space bugs)
- Design, build, and operate your own better ships
- Complete advancements/achievements
- Find derelict stations/ships to hack into and loot before self destruct triggers or traps kill you
- Buy access to next tier of systems
- Repeat in new systems for tiers 0-3
- Finally, in some tier 3 system, engage and destroy the Skrill Queen (space bug boss)
- Repeat more
