Do as the trailer says; gather resources, build ships, raise your standing.
Maybe build a player station for giggles, but that's about it.
There's a big leap between "I stopped playing because I didn't enjoy it" and "it's a scam".
How many hours did you play?
i hope the devs build a endgame :)
This has been the game's biggest issue for the entirety of its Early Access life.
I suspect the devs are hoping something similar to EVE occurs, where community interactions form the core "content" of the game. Sadly, the game systems needed to make that work as intended are sorely lacking as well. But hey, the ships are really fun to design and walk around in! ^_^
EH had various active player fleets once, all with their own stations in certain systems. there were a few skirmishes here and there but never any major fleet battles. it seemed no one wanted to risk attacking each other but there wasnt really ever any risk due to ship insurance. i never understood why they added that. building and losing a ship in this game is all part of the learning curve.
I enjoyed playing on EH when there were a lot more active players and really wanted the whole idea of EH to take off but like all the servers limited players makes it a little boring one you built your ships, stations ect, all there is to do is fly around and shoot skrill.
i think a lot of players who play on the pve server wont change to the pvp because they have it easy on the pve server with all their resources and think that people shoot first and will attack as soon as they see another ship on the pvp servers. a small few will but generally this isnt the case and once they get the higher tier ships the odd skirmish will probably happen but thats what makes the game interesting
i think providing no end game only really works if a game can be fully modded, like in the x-series games. I used to play x2 a lot and it would have died quickly in vanilla if not for modding. modding is used extensively in skyrim and fallout 4 and many others--games that I don't think we'd care about if they didn't have strong modding.
in ga me like this though, it b eing cooperative, the tricky part is how to get new players and old players playing togetehr and also preserve the content for each??? how to train new players on training wheels and also giving veteran players challenging content. how can content be challenging for veterans if it also is training wheels for new players/to learn??????? how to do it without separating the population.
