Its the kind of bug that has been around for a long time..
Its the kind of bug that wrecks the gameplay..
Its the kind of bug that prevents this title from attaining greatness..
I really hope it gets fixed.. as in.. Soon™
I tested earlier and you can't save a design without a name, or even leave it blank, so you must've saved it somewhere if you actually saved it.
If none of the autosaves are of your actual ship, I'd suggest doublechecking that your autosaving is actually turned on. I think it's on by default, but perhaps doublecheck anyway.
As for it being a bug? I've yet to have a single issue with ship design saving, apart from one time after a patch when the autosaving was introduced and quicksaving got bugged, but that was quickly hotfixed.
Yeah.. But I wonder who the OP is more likely to believe...
the person that has experienced the exact same issue as he did..
or the person that sais there is no bug, because it didnt happen to him..
There is certainly a recurring bug.
Some have stored their ships, only to have them disapear.
Some have tried to modify their ships, only to have them vanish.
Some have made a rift jump and the game crashed, and the ship no longer exists when you restart the game.
All three of these events has happened to me within 62 hours of gameplay..
There is no way to recover the lost ships and their cargo, there is no way to revert to a previous save that may have them intact.
It is a huge game breaking bug that utterly kills the gameplay and motivation to continue playing..
There is only so many times a person is willing to start over, only to lose it all again...
Have you found a way to recreate this issue with ship design saving?
Not connected to saving a blueprint in the editor.
Not connected to saving a blueprint in the editor.
Not connected to saving a blueprint in the editor. Generally that ship has rifted without the player, or the player was moved but ship wasn't, but unless you get a ship destruction message I've found that nearly always those ships are still out there.
Still not connected to ship design saving, which is what I was responding to. Considering the amount of ships I've designed and saved over the time I've played I find it unlikely that I wouldn't have come across that issue. Possible, certainly, but very unlikely.
If you can recreate the issue however (as mentioned, I tried saving without putting a name in, and it wouldn't let me) that would be helpful to the devs and the issue could be fixed.
Still not about ship design saving. As mentioned particularly about rifting, those ships are usually still out there. There are also backups for both servers and solo games, backups which you can set the frequency of.
This game is still early access. When I played solo, long before knowing about admin commands, it was just part of the game. With admin commands you can reimburse the ship, either in solo game or the admin can if you play on a server.
The devs on official servers are very good about refunding ships (and cargo).
I guess I never reached that point.
But still, this was about ship design saving. So again, make sure you save to the correct filename. You can also upload to the steam workshop for a backup, or use the save - export to file function to make an exported backup on your harddrive (which you can email to yourself, put on a USB memory stick, separate computer, cloud, etc etc).
