Why is the Steam version more expensive than other stores?
I'm looking at the Gold Edition right now and was going to buy it, but it's basically double the price on Steam.

GOG and EGS is US$12.49 for the Gold Edition. Steam version costs $23.15.

What the heck is going on here? I would like to buy this on Steam for equal price as other stores.

Because they have it on a greater discount? The base price is the same; complain to Valve I guess.

The base price is definitely not the same.

It's US$75.95 here on Steam and $49.99 on those other stores.

Get a steam key from key shops like Eneba. Gold edition costs around 3$

Hey! Really appreciate you looking to help me out here, but I'm not entirely comfortable going the grey market route. I'd probably just buy the inflated Steam price before doing that.

I did see the all-time low prices on Fanatical and some others were comparable or better than the GOG / EGS price, and those are official retailers. There should be some sales coming up with the Summer season and I'll hopefully be able to grab a Steam key then.

Grey market? They're legit keys. Check Tyranny reviews; Next to the reviewer's username it will also tell you if the game was bought directly from steam or was bought using a key.

I believe maximum people buy Tyranny using said steam keys.

But well, it is up to you I guess. This just isn't a game that should cost 20$ on sale.

Sounds like something to bring up to Valve. They, or Paradox, would control the pricing.

Dont buy at eneba they are literally key robbers and a very obscure market.
They don't give a damn if you get scammed there.

In the other hand kinguin is also obscure but at least they have the decency to give you refunds in which eneba and many other sites just dont believe you.

Valve only controls how their own games are priced. I did look into contacting the publisher here, but I wasn't willing to create an account on their website to contact them through support or something.

Thanks for the info, EUROCORP, appreciate that.

I'm going to wait until I see an official key retailer have a sale on a Steam key for the Gold Edition.

https://isthereanydeal.com/game/tyrannygoldedition/info/

I guess maybe someone could see this thread and the price will be adjusted during the big Steam Summer sale coming up at the end of the month. Doubt it, but we'll see.

I bought the normal edition through here because i sold some old weapon skins that were surprisingly pricey and i decided to give it a try!

It's a very good game!

If the price stays like this for a while i may upgrade to the gold edition!

By the way, just be careful when you pick choices! I broke my main quest by killing someone!

As for the pricing of games i'm not very sure if its valve or the studio that control the prices for example i have a game in my wishlist that even when big sales are coming they won't go below 29,99 and they are kind of old games, so i'm not very sure if valve controls the price or not.

anyone who downloads games a lot should always have multiple gaming sites to check, and just get the cheapest, it's the same game. Why pay 25 on steam when you can buy it 15 on somewhere else. Isn't complicated.

What's the point of your post? You're not contributing anything here that is meaningful to the question at hand. If I wanted to buy at a garbage store like GOG I would have done so, but I don't want to do that. GOG is a dying store that I've had numerous problems with in the past. I will not buy on that store ever again unless it's the only option, and we all know that will never happen.

I already said I'd consider official key sellers, but that just complicates things. I have to keep checking "Isthereanydeal", or sign up for those sites so I can "wishlist" the game if they have that feature. It's an annoyance, and I'm almost about to just buy it for the inflated price on Steam here.

What wouldn't be complicated would be the publisher just having price parity and not taking advantage of Steam customers.

so your complaining about paying high prices because you don't want to pay low prices other places. Why are you even posting lol. Sad. Oh, Kmart is selling something for 100 bucks but Target is selling it for 50, but i don't feel like going over to Target. Seems to be your problem not Steams.

Are you trying to act smart or funny here? Because you're not.

Kmart and Target aren't going to have drastically different MSRP's on an item like we see here. Prices of an item on sale might be slightly different, but you're guaranteed be able to get a price match at any major retailer because they want your business.

So, I'd be able to buy it for the lowest possible price from an official retailer while buying directly from where I want to buy.

It's not unreasonable to expect or want the base price of a game to be priced fairly across stores. People prefer to buy on Steam for a reason. This very same complaint would come up a lot more if this game was new and popular. It has nothing to do with Valve or Steam itself, but the publisher being unfair in their pricing to Steam users, which is wrong.

Anyways, there's no point in me discussing this anymore, because I already bought the Tyranny Gold Edition. I'd rather buy it here on Steam for an unfairly inflated price than buy it on a dying garbage store like GOG that I've had numerous problems with in the past.
