I thought as much myself when PoE announced they wouldn't have any romance, I decided I was being silly and bought it. Played it once and never again.

Illusion Soft may has good options for those who want romances, but it's in japanese. You may find mods on forums to translate their games.

This generation needs to get back to what makes games games and not trying to force dating simulation into everything to make it so called "interesting" or "worth playing".

I disagree.

PoE didn't drop the ball, Obsidian never wanted romances in the game. Some people wanted Obsidian to force it in but fortunately they said no. Everything else, PoE excels at though including lore, interactions, storytelling and atmosphere. It was a mature story, not like something you'd find in visual novels or Jrpg's.

Just buy one of these silly japanese romance game. Romance isn't a defining trait of cRPG. Most cRPG don't have romances (only Bioware kinda do that).

I actually think its once again a missed opportunity. I still like to argue that romances can give deep meaning and connection in a game (See Viconia in BG2 or Aribeths betrayal in Neverwinter nights). Independently of what one might think of romances, I would say there is certainly opportunity to explore interesting things in the theme of this game. After all, what would an evil romance even look like? Would the character perhaps be really supportive only to stab you in the back when you show weakness? Would it be some sort of really twisted and corrupted relationship, where both parties struggle for control over the other?

As for PoE, I think there too would have been options to explore romance through the whole soul seeing / connections.

I like when there are romance in game (good romance, I don't care about sex scene, I want to imagine the futur of my character, romance help with that). Baldur's gate 2 and his mod had great romance (Kim, Sevverian, Nalia, Edwin ^^), a rpg can have a good romance plot (trails in the sky for example).
If you just like sex in romance, try some mod in neverwinter night 1 (like dance with rogue, a game of throne like mod with a real great plot (but yes, for mature, there is gore, blood, sex, rape, drugs, betrayal, torture, bloody revenge, assassination, manipulation, and romance (with sweet character or real son of a b*****...)).

But ignore a rpg because of the absence of romance is stupid. Beside, there can be mod with romance later (or real extension with it).

Additionnaly, dragon age inquisition was real fun in Intruders when playing an elf girl with Solas (last scene is great).

POE was definitely kind of bad at character interactions in that the characters were less people and more massive info dump machines. I haven't gotten around to all the White March companions yet but the base companions were pretty bad.
