Game too hard right after ACT 1?
I had no issues going through act 1.. from what I read it was suppose to be the hardest part.
However, I found it extremely easy. (I play on HARD mode) but right after Act 1 I find the difficulty for me has skyrocketed. First place I went to was Lethian's Crossing and engaged a fight with the Bronze Brotherhood. They are fighting in large groups and just about two-shotting my tank (Barik) before he can even be healed up. Think Should I come back to that area later, or perhaps I need to change party composition / builds? I am wanting to keep from lowering the difficulty and/or cheesing the battles (ex. trying to lure one at a time).

It's been a while, but I think I just came back to that area later.

The bronze brotherhood is one of the harder factions to fight. They're especially tough for Barik to fight cause they use blunt weapons and barik has no armor against blunt weapons. If you're relying on barik doing tanking, that might indeed cause a jump in difficulty.

IIRC their 2h hammer guys cause the most trouble, rather than the dual wielding guys. Assuming that they're like the vendrien guard and that therefore the 2handers are tanks that you should save for last is a pitfall. Unless of course I'm remembering this completely wrong, it's been a while since I played tyranny.

If you need to fight the BB at that location, it means that you're on the Disfavored path. You're better off heading to Blade Grave to complete your first mission; return after you've gained some levels.

Or they went to vendrien's well in conquest mode and are now fighting the bronze brotherhood occupying the settlement.

What others state: if you can, delay that fight.
If you're playing on hard mode, you have to realize a few things:

1.) Heavily armored enemies on hard mode means you have exact counters. For many BB members, it is best to use magic damage as few have magic resistance. If you aren't going to use magic damage, pause the fighting, right-click to freeze the enemies stats, see what their armor is, and counter it.

As seen here...
https://tyranny.gamepedia.com/Raetommon (scroll to bottom, click on the gear) most BB members are armored against slash and shock. Best to use then fire, and cold spells. Cold is especially good as it slows down the already slow BB .

2.) You gotta use Lantry if you aren't already. In the early game if you can get Mirror Image and Spectral Blur. With coaxing from Lantry you can also equip basic heal spells on Barik and Verse (yes, it may seem counter-intuitive, but they should be using spells as well).

In fact, I've hardly been able to beat the end of Act 1 w/o those spells.

3.) If all else fails, Eb's per rest ability high loyalty combo ability can make short work of nearly any encounter. You may not have access to her though.

4.) On hard mode or above, you should be eating lots of food along the way to buff up your stats.

Oh, and if this is the encounter where they make you pay a bridge toll... just pay the money. That fight IS stupid hard if you actually engage it, as you'll have to fight many at a time.

If I pick that fight I cheese it... I run away till there's only 1 or 2 chasing me and then just engage those 1 or 2 BB brawlers. Even then it can be tough.

As long as you pass Ironhaul trail without attacking Rat, you don't have to fight the garrison. Being a disfavored ally prevents Rat from trusting you.

I guess that only happens on the anarchy route, then. Playing on that, rat told me I had a bounty on me and his men were going to try to collect it if I entered the city. I figured the same would happen on the other paths, but I guess not.

I have never passed through Ironhaul as an Anarchist (only as Chorus, Disfavored and rebels); my anarchist experience with the Crossing is when the BB attacked the Chorus garrison and I Betray Alliance and screwed everyone then.
