Dealing with a timer in Tyrrany
So I recently heard about a feature that's rather problematic for me here: A timer for main quest missions, where those missions would then stop you from completing unfinished side quests later. This is a rather big problem for me, since it makes games stressful when I play games to escape stress. I would, however, very much like to still enjoy the game for the story and world. I just can't do it with a timer.

So I have to ask: is there any chance of that ever becoming toggleable? Alternatively, does anyone expect mods to crop up that can fix this for me? I really don't know what I'd want to do, since I was getting really intrigued by the game and setting, but timers like that have the ability to utterly kill the game for me. Can anyone reassure me on this one, or am I SOL without aid from an uncertain modding future?

What he said. Only the first act.

its probably for a specific reason, so you are forced to play it lower level and not take forever and then grind up your characters doing every single side quest

He said it was a generous timer, but you may not get to rest after every single battle.

Who even thought this was a good idea?

Putting a timer on a fricken game?

its Only for the first part of the game. There might be some later but most of the game is not timed.

I think the timer is to show the player how powerful Kyros really is.

Also...you do not LOSE the game when the timer runs out.... its a story timer. (something happens)

There is a timer during the tutorial area that introduces the underlying concepts of the game and the world you have shaped through the conquest opener. Its to showcase the power of Kyros and the terror he inspires. It creates a sence of urgency and purpose and realisticly unless you are on maximum difficulty you will have more than enough time to do everything, the timer only comes into play on the higher difficulties where unless you manage your time effectivly you will have to pick and choose which side quests to do, adding another (temporary) game element.

Remember outside the starting areas this time limit doesnt exist, and is really just a tutorial thing.

Oh thank god, I can deal with that! Yessssssss! Such a relief. Thank you all, I'm now more certain than ever that I'm going to grab this ASAP.

I hope ♥♥♥♥♥♥ doesnt have a timer, it would just be plain meh. Who wants to stress while playing a game. It's like reading a book with a timer on it.
It's amazing how big the timer thing has been exaggerated to kingdom come... only Steam lmao!

It is only in a very small portion of the game.. learn how to read and do some research. This is on a very very small part of the game.

Yeah, the way it was presented, I kind of flipped out and also didn't want to get super hyped about something with a feature that could kill it, so I decided to ask here instead. The fact that it is only a small portion of the game is a huge relief. I'm now back on track for hoping to preorder the Archon edition.

It's good to have some timers, but a "game wide" timer is a mistake. You don't want to find 100 hours in that a mistake in hour 5 means that you won't ever finish the game. At the same time, it's immersive and interesting to have a defined timer. I mean, how many RPGs had some mechanic where the big bad was about to destroy the world, and then you went around doing sidequests and exploring for years of ingame time before you actually start the main quest again?

Oh yeah, absolutely the second bit there is unimmersive. I just generally feel like not writing artificial urgency into the story is the way to go there. However, here it sounds like there's at most a handful of timers on a handful of missions and most of the game won't have one running. I'll look at more videos and stuff from here, but what I've been hearing is totally acceptable. I just don't want to have to deal with a timer on every quest of a constantly running main quest.

FFXIII part 3 had a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ timer, and that was annoying has hell. If it is done ala Fallout 2, then that would be awesome. But not whole game timer, that would suck.
