I liked the real time combat well enough in BG/IWD/P:T/NWN/etc., although it does feel a bit more awkward here. But it still effectively is turn-based combat, with a LOT of options you don't usually see in real time combat.
What is NWN?
Neverwinter Nights
Well, that's not really an argument, that's just a matter of preference.
First, don't play Warcraft 2, play Warcraft 3. Or Starcraft 1. Less monotonous, with factions that are actually different. But also, it kinda is more turn-based than those, because you can't issue commands while paused in those games. You CAN slow the action down to a crawl, though, which THIS game could use, but it only helps so much.
I wasn't attempting to argue, more just declare that the argument is pointless. I just remember when Baldur's Gate came out, a lot of us (after driving in a snow storm and skidding on ice to get it, in my case--although I wasn't the one driving! thanks, Mom!) were super disappointed by the combat. And then we got to hear the "it is turn-based, just real-time turn-based" argument over and over, which has never made any sense to me.
That was my argument back then, that it felt more like Warcraft 2 than D&D. I remember actually liking RTS until I realized I was horrible at it!
For some reason Divinity has like the best turn based system in any rpg game i've seen so far
Yeah, I keep hearing stuff like that. Which game, though? The original, or 2, or the franchise as a whole, or what?
