Killing the Havoc at Lethien's crossing
I am absolutely flummoxed as to how to defeat the Havoc. I haven't had any difficulty with the battles thus far, but it keeps absorbing the scourges, and then even after that it just seems to regain health for no reason I can see in the battle summary thingy.
I am probably being extremely dumb here, but I feel as though I am missing soething important...

I just played on normal first, so not sure how hard it is on the higher diffiulties, they are very fragile to ice (spells + attacks), also they can easily get confused / disoriented using illusion spells as well

I just beat the game on hard, but I didn't find this fight all to difficult. I think I died once, but that was pretty par for the course for bossfights on hard. I do remember that I wasted a lot of resources trying to kill all of the Bane as they spawned the first time, and meanwhile the boss killed me with all of his spells/massive constant AOE pulse damage.

The second time I just focused on murdering him while Barrik took the aggro of the spawning Bane. When he dies all the bane dissapate.

cheese it.. get barik to run in and aggro some of them and run back to your party like a little girl, thats how i did it :p

Go ham on the boss, that's how I did it. Ignore all the other spawns.

I had to drop diffuclty to east.Could not do it on normal or standard, regardless of the amount of potions I drank, where I stood in the room etc.

Took me 4 tries on PoD difficulty, tough fight. I went for boss until he spawn the minions, kill the minios before he drain their live. After some damage he fades, go for minios that time.
Watch out for those aoe circular blades and minions spin. Move alway from that area
If you have use the arcane dust(not sure the name) to increase your arcane resist
My party was main(mage all schools), Barrik(tank), Verse(dual) and Landry(heal). I used a lot potions and Landry to heavy heal and ress who died.
Spells use frost and illusion as mentioned and whatever you have

I was using vers, my main who was a shock mage, eb, and the beast woman. and as I said I could not beat them to save my life. Dropped it to east and I knocked the ♥♥♥♥ out of em.

I had my main guy as a boring sword/shield dude, had Barik as the damage dealer with a two handed sword, Verse as an archer and Landry as a healer/offensive mage.

Took him down quite easily the second time.. the first time I bothered with his minions.

Beaten on hard at 3rd try. Not really hard but was fun. Last try Barrik eat arcane dust to have some arcane defence.

saying it was easy isn't going to help anyone...

Lol, I cheesed this like a mother-♥♥♥♥♥♥ on PotD! Just had one guy stealth and wait near the door opening/closing button in the lower-right segment of the map, had two guys wait in that one big empty room with the beacon/switch-thingie (technical term) in it where a bunch of Bane were, and used Verse's speed to (eventually) lure the Havoc into the room, then closed the door. Boom, no Bane-drain problems, no enemy backup; simple, easy, and PHENOMENALLY cheap. :steamhappy:

Only problem is, I didn't know the Bane would disperse after beating it, so I didn't get to increase my skills by killing them.... :steamfacepalm:

Just killed on POTD. The fight is definitely not easy - hope it helps someone.
My party: main dude, Eb and Lantry as dps mages and Barik with 2h.
1. I started by doing some dps to the boss.
2. After he spawned 1st set of adds I used burst spells on boss to make it consume the big add. This way big add died much faster than it would take my group to dps it down.
3. Then I kited the boss around while killing the small adds until my spells were back.
4. After small adds were dead I started to hit the boss and repeat the trick with 2nd wave of adds.
5. On 3rd set of adds boss was at 40% and my group was able to zerg it.

Well I ust finished the fight on normal after many fails and here is what worked for me. I had my main dude,Verse, Eb and Lantry for the healing. First you can piddle around and attakc the boss a few time but save your major healing and dps spells untill the scorges come out then kill the scouges and wisps as quickly as possible if you cant do that and the Havoc absorbs the scouges run get away from it something usally bad happens after it does that, while you are waiting for it asorb heal up and get back to wacking on it. Pull out all the stops hit it with your best shot then when the malice pops out let it abosrb the malice so you don't have to fight(heal up while its doing so) then keep on wacking on it it going to be a tight fight no matter what you do.
Also Healing powers are super necasary here, make sure at least 3 dudes have them and a lot of potions.

I wouldn't say the fight is easy. I made it on my 2nd try on Hard, with no one downed. My party was rather suboptimal: main elemental Mage (mostly frost + shock), Verse, Eb and Kills-in-Shadows whom I have just recently picked up and decided to throw in to try her. Eb was definitely helpful with her aura of fear for the Bane and Gravelight spells. Kills' was a bit lackluster due to having next to no defense and low parry/dodge, but she still managed to aggro the Scourges and Wisps while I was taking them out from afar with my main and Verse's firebow.

I'd say this is probably the only fight where I used Verse mostly as an archer, because of all the auras (Malices and Havoc) and enemy AoE skills. Eb was mostly busy by distracting and stunlocking the Havoc (with occasional help from my main and Verse). During my 1st attempt I went straight for the Havoc and mostly ignored the smaller Bane, but he has a rather nasty AI that just drained the nearby Bane and replenished his health. This happened a few times, and half of my party was KO, so I decided to try again and focus on the minions first, because Havoc can be easily controlled if you constantly apply Frozen, Stunned, Drowning or Dazed to him. That proved to be working.

Since this thread has just been necro'd, I should probably take this opportunity to say that it wasn't the Lethian's Crossing oldwalls I was in when I killed that one Havoc I mentioned, it was the Oceanside oldwalls, or whatever that area is called. Sorry for any confusion.
