I dont get along with a magician.
So... I really like to play archer and warrior. Which of these two do you recommend?
Simply because you can choose to specialize in 2 weapon sets.
I'd say, Set 1: Greatsword OR sword'n board OR dual wield
Set 2: Bow OR javelin OR magic
As someone who's playing as a Sword and Board I probablly wouldn't choose it, it doesn't seem to hold aggro well or be much more survivable than other heavy classes, I usually love Sword and Board but it seems weak in this game. Could be I'm just crap though :D
*Edit; Also what @Hariwulf said, you can choose a secondary as a backup.
I dunno I'm pretty ♥♥♥♥ at these games and I'm managing fine with my tanky MC. Lots of vitality and took the "taunt" talent at level 2 I have more problems keeping Verse from going into melee with her godamn bow xD
So, with that in mind, the safest class is a tanky one. plate armor, double-handed sword, and if ♥♥♥♥ gets real, a tower shield and a 1-hander in the secondary weapon slot.
The most interesting class, however, is mage. keep in mind, you can absolutely wear plate armor as mage, but your casting speed will be terrible. But mage is most interesting because you can stack multiple high-damage spells and fire them off constantly. mage absoltely out-dps-es archers, andmost melee, maybe with exception of 2-handers.
I go to Greatsword and secondary with bow.
The first time I played Dragon Age Origins I do not play well as a mage. I feel that this game is a little familiar in the combat, only after finishing the game once with tank warrior I started to understand a little of the mechanics and managed to finish the game of mage. As of dragon age I started to love the warrior class ..
I'm playing it as a "rogue", but yes I'd suggest a spellcaster from a "mechanical" point of view, the ability to "create and personalize" your own spells is amazing.
From a story point of view (meaning companions) thou I wouldn't suggest it, as half of them are "spellcasters".
