All those songs are passive, she goes through the same song for as long as combat lasts (unless you switch it) without you having to do anything, and gains "breaths" as she goes through those songs, which in turn allow her to use some of the unlockable talents in her War & Peace trees.
Stick her in heavy armour, maybe re-train her stats a bit and you'll see. Her songs are passive, unaffected by heavy armour recovery penalties and so forth.
I don't agree that she's that great of a "tank", but heavy armour definitely works.
Sirin, due to her songs being passive, is arguably the least affected by higher recovery penalties of heavier armours.
You don't need a traditional tank in Tyranny and all the caster/DPS characters are arguably much stronger than little old Barik, who is a bit of a dead weight.
She has or gets protecting auras which are mostly more than enough to withstand any thread.
Of course it depends, how you set up your group. For me she is a "must have".
