IMO the only real reasons to play NG+ is getting to take more talents and having more Lore and all the sigils for spell creation, and getting to see this demi-god you'll have in action from the start, rather than just for the last 1/3rd of the game.
Unfortunately NG+ is the only way you can play a Stone Mage (or half a dozen other types of mages) from the start.
currently on my 4th ng+ (prepping for the dlc) and its awesome to wield all those powerful spells from the very beginning.
Overall i like the ng+
I've enjoyed it, but after the 3rd or so I just started soloing and casting nothing but haste + guidance for a buff and spammed choatic descent rains in fights--once you get to 44 quickness (39 + the +5 speed helm on crit, which you always do), all spells and abilities have 0 cooldown (you can even spam the base 10m cooldown Undying at will). Even before that, with 19 base quickness + shortened cooldown sigils, you can basically spam through the 4 rains, keeping everything perma shocked/slowed/bleeding/poisoned.
The problem is melee becomes useless after a couple of play throughs--everything gets massive armor bonuses, and melee damage doesn't scale enough to keep up. That in turn makes most artefacts useless, other than the +5 quick helm and maybe the +2 quick staff since it stacks, though it won't go up to +6 with reputation like the would if you created it instead of importing it.
I'd definitely do at least one NG+, though.
