[SPOILERS] Rebellion path the only one that makes any sense?
I finished the game on the rebellion path, and I was satisfied with my ending. I united the Tiers, repelled the inevitable northern invasion, and even after all of that I was still just a pawn in Kyros' master plan to bring peace and order to the Tiers.

After I finished the game, I went on Youtube to check out the other endings. With the exception of the anarchist playthrough, the other endings dont seem to make any sense...

In the Disfavoured stroy, why does Kyros attack when all you have done is be loyal to his cause? Sure, you are more powerful now, but the Disfavoured is Kyros' fully devoted loyalist army. Why would she piss you off by attacking?

Similar issue with the Chorus ending, however I dont know if its ever explained why your companion is able to take over the Voices of Nerat so easily. Seems a little convinient. It presents you with a clumbsily written situation in which you cant lose and it doesnt allign with the type of choices you had been making throughout the game.

But I have only watched the endings so correct me if I'm wrong. But I'm glad I went rebellion as it seemed to have the most satisfying conclusion. None of the endings, in my mind, really allow for an expansion that will build on the story, more a setup for Tyranny two (what with Kyros invading the tiers in every playthrough)

It's the structure of the story, despite multiple startpoints at the start of Act II, there's only one end state. I don't fault OEI for it too much, there are very few RPGs that allow for multiple end states. It is a rise to power story and that story is going to play out the most organically if you're in opposition to the existing power.

In terms of plot - because Kyros needs an enemy to wage war upon. So he arranges for Fatebinder to become Archon of Edicts, so that his empire doesn't become stagnant and still has clear goal to work towards. Oficial reason for this is Fatebinder claiming power of Edicts, obviously challenging Kyros' rule (even if you don't).

Because really. What's there left for evil overlord to do once everything is conquered?

About Disfavored path coherency:
The game tells you plenty time, if you are too powerful you'll end catch attention.

So at first Kyros send Bleden Mark to kill you. Then you kill him, something that hadn't happen since a very long time.

Then only Kyros send armies at you, so you have complained that Kyros requested Bleden Mark to kill you.

In my opinions the armies event has been added to make it more clear that now Kyros want you dead, and clearly for you Bleden Mark event wasn't enough.

So your problem is you don't understand why Kyros want you dead, in my opinion it's because you didn't noticed well all elements that make your character a heavy threat:
  • Start 2 edicts of Kyros, something very few people did. The game highlights multiple time it makes you a threat.
  • Start and stop the same edict, something nobody ever did, you are the first. The game highlights multiple time it makes you a threat.
  • Take 5 spires something never done before, not even Kyros, and there's big clues Kyros is quite worry about them and Ancients linked to them.
  • You took under you banner the most powerful army of Koros, Disfavored. And you disbanded last invading army of Kyros, Chorus that Kyros has no chance to rebuild, you have Siring and Chorus is mostly Tiers.
  • You have three major Archons on your side, Sirin that even Kyros feared her), Tunon who is Archon of Law, and Graven the Archon of War.
  • You killed Bleden the worst assassin ever that most probably even Kyros feared.
  • You throw edicts, the first ever to do it other than Kyros.
  • Kyros get reports that you throw edicts like he does, but it' words not concrete reality under his eyes, so he launches his LAST armies
  • First time ever Kyros has to face someone able to throw edicts too and moreover someone with links from the Ancients something that clearly worry a lot Kyros .
  • Then you throw an edict at Kyros face, it's not anymore just reports he read but he faced a real concrete edict, it's obvious face reality is a shock for him.
  • Last and not least, you can throw edict instantly and at distance, looks like Koros must write it on paper and send someone on the land to tell it or himself expose and go to land to tell it.

Seriously you can't see the threaten you are for Kyros? It's non acceptable you are no standard Archon.

That he send his armies to you is a curious panic blunder, but let say he had only reports/words you could send edicts, and saw you could instantly and from distance, can be considered as the heavy chock generating the blunder.

A much more difficult topic than why Kyros send armies at you, is why he didn't before.

I have the beginning of an arguing about that.

Kyros is unable to find any solution about his two only invasion armies that generated a blocked situation. His plan: Try use you to solve the problem and then kill you with Blenden Mark. With Disfavored and Chorus paths, it's pretty coherent.

With Rebel and Anarchy paths (I don't know them yet in detail) it's more difficult to argue. The situation is both Chorus and Disfavored are rebelling but not openly. And send a third Archon and one more army will hardly solve anything. So Kyros is in a blocked situation... because he isn't pure evil and don't want just throw edicts and destroy everything and kill everybody, he still hopes conquer Tiers and get back at least one invasion army.

I don't know Rebel path but I suppose you can at least disband both Kyros invasion armies and then Kyros has nothing to expect in Tiers, and send Blenden Mark to kill you.
