As I repeat again and again, one answer isn't significant because it depends a lot of player type. But it seems people dont care lol.
For me one play is about 50H which include time for digging spells, equipements, read a bit about rules. In practice it's more but it doesn't count.
Now for a CRPG with heavy story stuff, it allows 4 plays with a lot of differences perticulaly if you organize a bit your plays. I never saw any CRPG like that, it's quite more than the usual replay value.
So for me it's a 200H game, 120H (4x30H) if I count a quick play and planing most stuff out of game.
Side quests are scarce so you're always on the quest for the main mission making the game kind of linear since it leaves no room for exploration and f'uckin' about.
However the choices you get to make are great and the story is super engaging. While the game itself certainly is quite short for an RPG it's still a very enjoyable one.
I'm on my 2nd playthrough now and I expect this one to be even quicker than the first.
Took me around 2h to finish the first chapter now.
Story is magnifient !
There are 4 "main" story arcs and impressive amount of character builds.
I personally don't feel the game is worth full price in its current state.
I spent 41h on my first playthrough (Scarlet Chorus / PotD). Maybe if you play on normal and rush it you will be through in 20h. Now calling a 20h-40h game a short game is ridiculous!
EA makes billions selling 50€ / 6h games to kids, in cinema you pay 10€ / 2h and if you read a book you pay 20€ for 15h.
The developers have to live from something and it is no wonder Obsidian is always close to bankrupcy if fans of CRPGs are judging their games by such ludicrous standards. The game does not have repetitive fetch quests (actually no fetch quests at all). It also does not feature other prominent time sinks of the genre such as crafting.
I might do some people injustice here, but in my opinion this is where you vote with your wallet. You do not like the setting or the graphics or the gameplay - fine. But to expect 100h of non repetitive gameplay for 10€ which has some production value is just economically unsound. And if people continue to have this silly expectation this type of games will be fast gone again and we will play 50€ / 6h modern military shooters shooters for the next 50 years.
