Does this game have ADS?
From videos I've seen it doesn't look like it. I won't play this game unless it has ADS incorporated in to it's shooting mechanics. Same reason i refuse to play counter strike anymore. It 's not 2001 anymore guys, games have come a long way. There's no excuse to not have it these days. It wouldn't add anything to the game to keep it out. There's a part in one of the videos where he's shooting an AR with a Holographic sight from the hip, not using the sight.

Nobody shoots assault rifles from the hip, especially if there's a fancy sight on it, it just looks silly to anyone over the age of 12, or anyone that understands guns.

I would love to play a remake of the original half life with modern shooting mechanics added in. Keeping to the old style is just overly scrupulous to a fault.

ADS is not necessarily improvement, firing from the hip fits this game because its so fast paced. You dont want to have a gun blocking your entire view and reducing your vision when you sprint and jump around. This is not a modern military shooter, its a proper classic FPS.

the thing with games that have ADS is, you can choose to shoot from the hip also if you so desire, or if the pace of the situation dictates. There is no benefit to not having it. It is necessarily an improvement to both realism and functionality.

This isn't Battlefield, it's not a tech-of-the-art. It's Half-Life, and that'd ruin the whole experience.

magnum has ADS, happy ?

Not all of us binge on banal dude-bro shooters that are known for slowing down the pace of the gameplay by shoe-horning an outdated mechanic like ADS.

Because it's 1998 one more time! The golden era of FPShooters.

The golden era of FPS's was from 1993-2007.

The thing about this game is that there really is never a time aiming down the sights is needed. The guns shoot very reliably and at this point adding in ADS would only be adding a useless extra button. Perhaps if the crosshair was removed then ADS would be a good idea because it would create one, but as of now there really isn't a point to it.

Well, atleast the zoom function on the crossbow isn't a cheap zoom in with an overlay effect.
War_Dyn27 May 14, 2015 @ 1:12pm
The reason not to have it is that ADS is completely a pointless mechanic. The guns in Black Mesa are accurate enough without needing another useless button.

Also you mentioned 'choice'; with most games that use ADS, there is no real choice because you will never hit anything unless you aim.

not having iron sights, doesn't mean you are hip firing. its just a different, older approach to fps games.

Aiming style from more civilised days.

The game is a faithful remake to the old halflife, Dont buy it buddy, go play COD if you have no respect for "games without ADS"

He's obviously not a Half-Life fan or "Purist" (I had to say it, Even if it did sound really dumb)

Why stop at ADS?

Why not ask for bullet travel?

Bullet drop?

Driveable (hijackable) military vehicles?

Believe it or not, Black Mesa is based off Half-Life 1, not Arma. Adding those kinds of mechanics to Black Mesa would divert its gameplay immensely from its intended style.
