Game minimizes as soon as I use the mouse

So I'm experiencing an odd glitch. I can start the game fine and it goes to the menu screen. I can move the mouse around the screen fine. But as soon as I try and click on something the game minimizes and the windows start button opens (it's like I hit the windows key on the keyboard).

If I try to unminimize the game, it automatically minimizes again before I can even try to use the mouse. And the windows start menu opens again.

All other games on steam work fine EXCEPT for other Half-life games... which is really odd. So, for instance, after experiencing this on Black Mesa I tried to start Half-Life 2... same thing. Then I tried that other mod Double something rather (I forget the name) and the same thing happens! Is it the Source engine or what?
