Black Mesa ISN'T supposed to be a perfect remake
Whenever I see someone comparing BM to HL1, they often forget something. Black Mesa isn't supposed to be a perfect, 1-1 remake of the original Half-Life. In my opinion, it's meant to be a sort of reimagining, with plenty of differences to separate it from the og. This is why I think people should play both games for the perfect Half-Life experience, because both succeed in many areas and also fail in many areas.

I've honestly never seen this come up in convo too much, but I do agree, playing the og is still worth it, and just adds to appreciation. Besides, not like they're laboriously long games.

why not, BM is still better in much beatures but i still enjoy OG HL1.
It's very true that HL1 and Black Mesa should play it equally, since it's only a small graphics improvement (talking about Black Mesa).

Ahhh yeah, some rare purists wants no changes in a remake. When Black Mesa had its webpage, they had to make a clear disclaimer that what they wanted is already out: Half Life Source.
It could use some minor Improvements. I play on Hard Difficulty only.

1: Weapon Damage - needs more Damage on Higher difficulties to compensate for the damage you the player take. I really don't like using mods that increase damage but I do.

2: More enemies/Increased spawns - For Hard difficulty to make it feel more alive and deadly. I would double the enemies for each spawnpoint per cell. Except for the bosses as they are mostly scripted to die in a certain way that allows the player to progress forward in the game.

3: HEV Power - On Hard difficulty reduce HEV suit power to 50%. Too many power cells that I end up leaving a bunch of leftovers behind. Having the max capacity dropped to 50% on Hard difficulty will ensure I use more when taking damage.

Playing on a 3080 Ti shouldn't pose a performance issue with a few extra enemies.

I don't think a lot of people are complaining about Xen being different, it's just a bad level in general without comparing to Half Life's Xen stages.

That's true, but I was talking about it's similarities to the original Half Life. Some people want it to completely the same with some graphic improvements.

I would agree to a higher difficulty setting being added. Nightmare difficulty which does everything I mentioned. I like to have my skills challenged by a unpredictable A.I..

HECU should no longer call out Frag Grenade throwing instead they use their mics to alert their squads of Frag Grenades.

No need to take this so seriously.

I love the game I still play it but It could use a few updated to keep it alive.

I hope they release Blue Shift as a standalone so I can switch between them if I need to.

I hope Operation Black Mesa gets more focus and hopefully more people to help get it done. OBM should also have a Standalone version.

Blue Shift starts before Black Mesa starts with Barney.

Adrian doesn't arrive until Surface Tension chapter as Adrian is on one of the VTOL's flying past.

Best video ever.

Not Blue Shift you have to replace some files to play Blue Shift which makes it hard to play Black Mesa because. Hopefully they will do a standalone on the steam store for Blue Shift and Operation Black Mesa.
