Where's The Crowbar ?

In the original HL...the crowbar is first obtained in Unforeseen Consequences, just after the bit with the lasers scouring the floor, just as you go through the broken glass of the next door the crowbar is very obvious on the floor. But I have looked all round there...and no crowbar. In fact I've been all the way back to the Sector C train stop, and no crowbar. So when do I get the crowbar ?

I know for a fact that I had the crowbar in the original HL before returning to the entrance at Sector C, as the crowbar was what I used to kill the security guard and get his gun. But I cannot do that...and basically am defenceless.

Howdy!

You are not defenseless. The game teaches you how to use flares against enemies and how to use allies as well. The crowbar is located a little farther. Just keep moving forward, it cannot be missed since it is required to progress.

I've used the flares, and got the security guard to defend me, and am now back at the Sector C entrance. In the original HL, this is the bit ( I've played the original HL about 10 times ) where I'd kill the security guard ( nasty me ) using the crowbar and get his gun...as he cannot follow to the next stage through the hole in the wall. So you're telling me the crowbar is after I go through that hole ?

Yes, having progressed somewhat further I can see there's all sorts of subtle differences from the original.
