Stuck in office complex

I can not get out of the office complex. can not open any doors. HELP!

I am in the area that has a catwalk and ladder down to floor. Theres a door across the room that i have gotten too by piling up things but it does not open. I tried smashing windows but can not climb in to any of them. Theres an iron gate at the end of the upper catwalk that wont open either.

If you're where I think you are you let the guard get killed by the zombie adn now that gate at the catwalk will not open for you by any means. This isn't the way to progresss forward but it is where you are introduced to the magnum, don't worry you will get it later at some point. You will need to go back to a window where there is water behind and smash the window to carry on through. You may need to backtrack to get to this.

Backtrack to that "lobby" area, the one with the rounded desk and bright lights, and on the side of the room where you first entered will be a window looking into an office. This office is flooded and the water is electrified.

Naturally, becuase it's a dangerous place no real person would ever want to go near, this is your destination. You have to break the window to get inside and make your way to an air vent.
