Black Mesa: Blue Shift

Could you kindly explain how to install this mod ? Is it worth it ?

I tried following the instructions but I can't get it to work. When i try to launch the mod from the desktop shortcut, it says "Steam is not running. Please launch Steam before attempting to run Black Mesa."

-Subscribe to the mod in Workshop and wait for it to download.
-Go to your Library, click right mouse button on Black Mesa, go to "Manage" and click on "Browse local files";
-Go from current directory ("steamapps/common/Black Mesa" up to the "steamapps" folder;
-From this directory, go to "workshop/content/362890/2424633574";
-Once you locate the mod files, double click on "bshift_install.bat" and follow what it says.
-Done.

I did everything as stated but It is not working. When i also launch the Black Mesa main game, there is nothing installed on the workshop menu.

You need to launch Black Mesa with a specific launch option after it’s done installing. IIRC they tell you what it is on the Blueshift workshop page.

The mod installs 2 desktop shortcuts:

1-Black Mesa Blue Shift (Old UI) ("...\Steam\steamapps\common\Black Mesa\bms.exe" -game bshift -oldgameui )
2-Black Mesa Blue Shift ("...\Steam\steamapps\common\Black Mesa\bms.exe" -game bshift )

and they both report the same error.

EDIT: ok I finally managed to get it working.
You are right, the game can be launched with -game bshift on Black mesa launch option OR using the desktops shortcuts with administrative rights, it' s mandatory.

Does this error message also appear if you have Steam Running? As it says, Steam needs to run in order to launch the game. Alternatively you can add -game bshift to your Black Mesa launch params in your Steam Game Properties to launch it directly via library.

yes thank you, i just did it. Steam was already running of course. The problem is that the 2 desktop shortcuts do not work without administrative privileges.
I honestly think it's a bit too complicated for ordinary people to install and use these mods.

Why are you saying that?

Blue Shift is a fairly good expansion and people are glad seeing remakes of Opposing Force and Blue Shift.

Barney from HL² was anything but a d*ckhead, in fact he saved Gordon and was quite nice to him through the game.

Hello, I installed the mod and succesfully launched via -game bshift (since the installation .bat file didnt create any shortcut) but when I launch a new game it loads up until about 30% then exit to desktop.

i never played the original Blue Shift, but i can assure you that this remake, or whatever it is, it is a very, very good chapter.
I would have removed the second part of the train puzzle, which is really annoying and very unfunny.

It's called Peer Review, and it's being made by the same team that made the Hazard Course mod.
