Best system for performance?
Hi all. I'm hoping to get some advice. I just purchased a new laptop for general office purposes but also to play a few older games, black mesa being one of them as I'm a huge half life fan and have been wanting to play this for ages.

I initially bought a Lenovo ideapad with a Ryzen 3 and Radeon graphics and seemed to have no issue with playing the game. Unfortunately the laptop did not have enough storage so I returned it.

The laptop I have now is the Lenovo ideapad flex 5i with a intel i5 processor and intel iris xe onboard graphics. When I installed the game and resumed my save it was very dark, flashlight doesn't work and flares are also not effective in terms of providing lighting.

After a search online I see that it could be an issue with the game and the intel onboard graphics not working correctly.

The questions I have for this are two:

1. Is there a way to fix this issue with the intel on board graphics? I have tried various console comand fixedls that have been advised online to no avail.

2. If no fix is available. Would a new laptop with a Ryzen 5 processor and Radeon graphics be ok? The new one I'm looking at is a Lenovo yoga 7

Thanks all in advance

I would say get a new laptop, cause I have no idea how well Black Mesa will run on a okay laptop.

I'm sure you already know Black Mesa is more demanding in graphics, and power, but if you can't get it working, I suggest a mod for it, called, Black Mesa Classic.

If you want to experience the game with the modern graphics, either a new laptop, or someone else will be of help. This is all I have, sorry.

Integrated aka on-board graphic processing are a no-go for Black Mesa or virtually any PC gaming in general unless they are old school games.
Black Mesa is unsupported for Intel Graphic cards and not sure for AMD Radeon IGPU in laptops.

Thanks for the help guys. A driver update for the integrated graphics seems to have solved the flashlight issue but I'm not too sure how well it will fare further into the game. I may switch to the Ryzen 5 laptop and hope that works better
