Fear of ichthyosaur?
Can't bring myself to play this game anymore by panicking whenever I see one of these gigantic evil fish. How can I get over this intense feeling of fright when I have to fight them? I literally start sweating and freaking out since they're so big yet fast.

Same here. I quit at Xen on the 7th evil fish there.

Playing subnautica may help you. At least, it did for me.

But at the end of the day, remember that only the Dam encounter is actually dangerous. Other encounters are mostly on the safe side.

Those fish are surprising the first time, but you can always pick them off if you got the height to snipe at them from above water. Farther out, I use the crossbow and 357 to pick them off from above water. Closer up while above water, I've used the Spas-12, MP5, and Gluon to end them (never used Tau on 'em though).

In the drink, the Glock and crossbow are still usuable. I've heard the RPG can also work underwater, but I've never tried doing that in my playthroughs though.

This happened me since the original Half Life. My workaround is swim fast and hope to outrun him, getting out of its reach. Or kill while outside of water by shooting it, with anything. Good thing Black Mesa and half life didn't have few ammo in the maps like an horror game.

First of all ... it's pixels ... it's imagination. Second of all, you can stand outside the water and use the bug-firing arm thing at it, the bugs will go into the water and attack it.
