It is a false positive. You will not need the file to play the game. It is used for closed captioning development.

From the developers:

The .exe in itself is only used when you are creating new closed captions for the game, so the game should function just fine without it.

So, if you are not working on closed captions, just ignore the missing .exes and play the game.

Never use Norton, it is a complete and utter pile of useless junk.
Go to another anti-virus

Do yourself a favor and ignore the people complaining about Norton, it is in the top 5 and is a fine product.

Who's Top 5? You know companies can pay for positive reviews from critics, right? Install Malware Bytes if you ever have a problem, otherwise don't use anything and just pay attention to any installers you ever have to use.

Exactly.

Computers and IT security is my profession. To recommend that someone not use anything other than malwarebytes (free or paid, or do you even know the difference) is criminal.
And the advice to pay attention to "any installers" as your recommended 2nd line of defense is woefully ignorant.
I can backup what I know with sources and facts. Can you?

We are free to not use any antivirus programs, dude. Don't call us "criminal" if we recommend to not use any of theses to our friends. If we take care of our PC and what we are downloading, everything is OK, and we won't need any of theses antivirus softwares. I did exactly as "Dest" said for 10 years, and I never get any problems. Clean up your PC every 2 weeks, and it's okay.
And insulting us of "ignorant" because we pay attention to what we are downloading is ridiculous and immature.
Who the hell do you think you are?

Let me repeat what you said before :

Next time, think before you post.

Just turn off Norton when you play on Black Mesa, the author. This game doesn't have any malware.

By the way you post I know exactly who and what you are, and that's clueless.
If you were paying any attention you would know that the game does not need the files that Norton and other av programs false positive on. So you don't need to turn off the av program, what is it with you and BAD Advice. Please stop.
Carry on, but stop spreading misinformation.

And remember kiddos

Black mesa dosen't have malware, If it did steam would have taken it down and crowbar collective would have probably been sued. Oh and why the hell do you have to be rude, just because someone gives advice about disabling an anti virus doesn't make bad advice what the hell do you think this place is? thepiratebay or some scam website? It's not like crowbar said "make sure to disable your anti virus", or something like that and why again are you acting like some insenitive ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ steam is safe so lose the geek talk and go back to your hole. Oh and by the way stop badmouthing people saying there wrong you don't know that he could be right and you don't want to accept it, aswell as acting like mom, dad, and babysitter to people, honestly this discussion is just insulting the work of black mesa so take this and go throw it out the window and forget about it.

It's a virus and steam report is not responding about the exe. This game worked fine until update was done.
