Seems like the hit detection for it is broken , I've been aiming dead center and my shots just haven't counted.
EDIT: managed to destroy it and yep, its got a broken hitbox because damage to the helicopter blades just doesn't count.
They really should reduce the accuracy on it.
Marines in general are screwed, they're pretty much call of duty enemies, except you don't have any regenerative health so you're constantly taking unavoidable damage.
They should really have delayed Zen so that the rest of the campaign works, the crossbow scope is completely broken and There's a weapon-less Marine in Questionable Enthics that can crash the game.
But I can confirm that around 2 to 3 shots should do it:

Playing on Normal.
I shouldn't have to lower the difficutly because the developers stopped play-testing their own game.
Bosses are mean to be challenging. Don't know what else to tell you.
Other people in the thread agreed with me.
There's a difference between challenging and unfair.
Half life 1's Helicopter actually missed and was even optional to defeat.
I don't know if they changed something on that choppa since V0.0.2, but I played on hard back these days and it was easy with the Gauss Tau why do I always make that mistake?
Please take my video as my disapproval.
Thank you.
This is one of those points where Black Mesa makes it significantly worse than HL1.
Raid warehouse, make sure you're maxed out on Tau ammo and as much health and HEV suit power you can get.
Run across bridge. Take care of the two soldiers ASAP and keep running forward. You should take minimal damage from both the soldiers and the attack copter.
Head toward the second 'silo'. Run as long as you can, and as the bridge to the 'silo' crumbles, jump toward the ladder. You might take some damage from the chopper (or the fish, if you're unlucky), but that's OK.
Inside of the silo, there's a healthkit and some radioactive ammunition. I find it incredibly easy to take out the chopper from the very narrow opening from the silo. Just wait for your shot, pop out of cover, and fire. It took me approx. 4-fully charged blasts before it buggered off.
Activate the switch, jump into the waters, and head down the pipes.
Hope this helps. I do not recall this segment being so difficult in Half-Life 1. I'm also playing on Normal difficulty, and this segment just seemed needless unfair. I didn't feel challenged, only frustrated.
Hm, would these two soldiers actually attack you when you run back to the warehouse and use it or the truck as cover?
In my video they simply gasped there in the distance after I shot the choppa and ate some darts. oO
Did they enhance the AI in that case? :D
I am still waiting to replay until final release, so I actually don't know.
