Stuck on a puzzle, possible bug?
So, I'm in a part during the Xen chapters in which I have to activate three lasers individually that meet in the middle. The first 2 are done, but I can't seem to figure out the solution for the third. I think I tried everything to the point that now I think it might be bugged.
So here are my steps so far: take the first cable from the only available location at that point, it deactivates a barrier field to a hole in the ground; jumped into the hole and followed its path until I found another cable and used the open a door which was the only exit from there; I took that cable back and brought it with me along with the other one to the area in which they must be connected; tried every possible combination of connecting the cables, nothing worked.
I also tried leaving the one that opened the door in its place since it powered the door so maybe it could power something else at the same time and work with the other, but that didn't work either.
I don't seem to have anything left to do, I looked for other open areas and buttons but there doesn't seem to be anything else.

Btw, the screenshot was taken to show the part I was stuck in and when I was desperately trying different cable setups when the obvious one didn't work, I'm aware the cables are not properly organized in here.

The one thing you're doing wrong is the wire organisation. The arrows on the panel show the direction of the power travelling through and the ceiling plug is the power source. The power source needs to go to the far left, that then points to the middle plug. Then plug the middle and right together. Since there's a shorter distance from the middle to the right, use the shorter wire for that and the longer wire for the ceiling to left.

For whatever reason it doesn't count when you use the shorter wire on the ceiling and far left, so make sure you're using the longer wire.

Ah, that's it. I thought I was going crazy. Thanks.

I got stuck on this for nearly 30 minutes, and you're telling me THAT'S the solution???

I connected the outer two (left and right) and now I can't remove the wire to change it.
Seems like a bug.

Seems also like bad design. Half life 2 also had a wire-plug puzzle. But it was obvious what cable you should plug where because the shorter cable wouldn't reach one of the plugs that was far away, thus you only had one solution given by the distances and cable lenght.

So I used the longer cable to connect ceiling and left, but the remaining (shorter cable) does not "plug" into the right socket so I can't make the final connection between middle and right. I watched a YT playthrough to make sure I wasn't going mad but nope, think this one is a bug...

Yup loading from a few saves back and the cable plugged properly after that..

Ran into this bug as well now. Trying to reload from an earlier save. Cannot plug the short cable to the socket on the right at all.

Having the same issue as well, gotta plug the centre and right sockets first then the supply.
It does suck a bit!

This just happened to me too, but I couldn't reproduce it after loading an earlier save and plugging the wires in the wrong order. I think it's caused by something else. This puzzle certainly does seem to be bugged.

Ran into the same issue. middle and right socket didn`t work. Couldn`t plug into the middle socket. Hope, they fix this any time.

Had the same issue of not being able to plug in the cable. Ran around for like 15 min because I thought I missed some part of the puzzle but it really just was a bug. Reloading the autosave solved it.

i plugged in the long cable to the ceiling and the left then i plug the small into the middle, but i can't plug in the other side of the small cable into the right outlet?

It sounds like I just encountered this issue, too. I can't plug anything into the rightmost socket. :/

yup encountered same issue. Seems if you plug the long cable into ceiling and far left first, the small cable wont plug into middle and far right for some random reason...
