Hello, are you still having issues? Have you enabled Playstation controller support via Steam settings?
Ultimately though its not really designed for a controller in mind. With no auto aim or lock on fighting the soldiers etc is far too hard. Best sticking with mouse and keyboard until official support is added IMO.
Unfortunately Black Mesa still has no proper full controller support even after the release of Definitive Edition (I had always troubles with this game and DS4). Maybe developers will add it, but who knows when.
If you look at the update notes, there are entries like "Updated functionality for UI navigation with controller/keyboard." etc. Also there is auto aim support, you can find its settings in the menu.
But nowhere can be found which types of controllers are supported. I guess that currently XBox controllers support is relatively advanced, but still not completed and DS4/DualSense support is just missing.
It's possible to use Steam WASD+mouse controller template for PS controllers, but that is far from ideal.
I see no reason for using DS4Windows with Black Mesa, Steam client has DS4 support too.
